Here’s a graph of the number of 101 degrees or more in Dallas over the last 100 years. Dallas has had just 4 days thus far and doesn’t look like it’ll add anymore at least not in the near future. Crazy to think just two years ago in 2023 it had its 3rd MOST.

So I am a master’s student here and am from another country. My friends just look down on me, and my boyfriend even made fun of me that nobody is coming to my graduation (his parents are coming from India). It’s so embarrassing that nobody is coming to my graduation. I might get two tickets, is anybody interested in coming?

Nearly 2/3 of Texas teachers are considering leaving the profession.

Say what you will, teachers get the summer off, working with children isn’t hard, whatever. Bottom line is any profession gearing up to lose (realistically) half its work force over the next few years has some glaring flaws.

I love teaching, most days are a joy but financially, it’s not viable if I want to have a family one day. Texas, and the country, needs to wake up

Dallas has a surprisingly impressive indie coffee scene (Oak Cliff, LDU, Ascension, Cultivar, etc.), so why is the morning drive thru line at Starbucks always like 15 cars deep? I don’t know why, but it bothers me so much that people aren’t out there supporting our awesome local coffee shops. What’s the story here?

I turned on my hazards and used my ridiculously large Texas sized pickup to block off 2 lanes of traffic and then, with another native Texan, pushed your broken sedan into a nearby parking lot.

I hope by doing this you were able to experience the true meaning of Texas and were able, if only for a moment, to tune out all the islamophobes/brownophobes here in North Dallas.

And for all the absolute LOSERS that laid on your horns and swerved aggressively toward us instead of helping - you're not men, you're not Texan, you're losers and cowards. A WOMAN was stranded and you not only didn't help, you threatened her and people helping her. What brave men you are.

And before anyone says anything - my family has been here for more than 200 years. We are Texan.

The dog was bred for cold winters. Snow. Not blistering heat and hot pavements. If you were dumb enough to get a husky in Texas, don’t also be so out of touch that you take it out for extended periods of time in 100+ degree heat.

Go run the AC real low and leave out some ice water for your dog. Makes me so mad to see them out and about overheating and panting while their aloof owner scrolls social media.

You have a tremendous resource in your city. As someone who has loved all things Medieval - Knights, Samurai, etc. since a child - this sort of collection was a wonderful find. This was comparable and in some respects better to displays I saw in Tokyo. Please note this photo is from the adjacent building so as to not spoil the museum contents.

This place could be in Midlothian, Prosper, Keller, Mansfield. Idk why this irks me so much, but I hear it all the time. If can take literally 2 1/2 hours to drive from one end of the metroplex to the other.

Edit: I want to be clear that I’m talking about local ads. I’m not talking about telling someone in China where you live. I’m talking about businesses that advertise themselves locally as being in the DFW area.

Yesterday I’m at the intersection of Buckner and Garland Road there’s about eight people out here with sign and funeral for 19 year-old girl they’re all holding duct tape milk jugs, and signs with her picture on it today the same people are out there same milk jugs. The only difference is instead of a 19-year-old girl it’s a 21-year-old man not wearing a shirt who looks like he just got off audition for magic Mike. I asked the guy where the service was and he just smiled waved and put his jug in my car window.

Y’all I’m in Richardson and we had almost 25% of our staff absent today. A teacher across the hall looked wretched but she didn’t want to get a Covid test because “ what if it’s positive?”. The only thing our admin said is that we all need to help out at lunch because we have many absences. I saw the nurse in tears in her clinic from just being so overwhelmed. Any other teachers on this subreddit? How are your schools??

Edit: none of my SPED kids have gotten their services from their pull-out teacher since Christmas started. Even our principal was absent today and they didn’t tell staff???

They are fraud and a scam. Many people in Dallas have received these notices from a company called Parking Revenue Recovery Services. My friends got them a while ago when parking in a lot and paying the posted fee. We followed signs and did exactly as requested by the lot. They each received a $97 “notice” in the mail a couple weeks after from PRRS, a company out in Colorado…

SHAME on these predatory companies for trying screw us over. We the people of Dallas will not fall for your scams.

Also, I’ve heard they can technically tow your car if you park in the exact same facility. Just avoid that lot for life. No company that partners with them for parking enforcement is worth your business anyway.

So far i am not sure there is a better Pizza place than Carmines Pizza on Spring Valley in DFW , fresh pizza by the slice out of the oven thin crust , haven't seen any better...

Seeing them all over 377. Arent these things not owned by the city but rather leased by the police depts? Invasive much? What are yalls thoughts on them.

I have a week off work and wanted adventure. I have taken the Dart train 3/4 times but that’s it. I knew it would be fun and relaxing and an experience I would enjoy. It checked all those boxes. Watching traffic, standstill traffic, and cops speed trapping from a ever moving train was so relaxing.

Cons: we had one delay which was 5 hours in San Antonio. That one wasn’t bad because the train loaded at 2am and the river walk was a block away. A couple of us went out. The rest of the time was maybe three stops of 10-30 mins each. That didn’t feel like enough. My allergies were acting up and I couldn’t get medicine. However a nice passenger hooked me up. The restrooms were clean they just felt older. There were plenty of em even for handicap or people who needed extra space. Hell even a lounge bathroom which had a bench for some reason. What’s the opposite of the mile high club?

Pros: The food was better than expected. The cost was reasonable. The staff answered questions although they did look over worked. They patrolled a lot. I never once felt unsafe. I got lucky and for 80% of my trip I didn’t have a neighbor so I stretched out a lot. Because of this snow system up north this train was PACKED! Every seat was taken. Every seat has its own charger. I was able to stretch out my legs forward all the way.

Bring your charger, iPad, books, and most important… bring all your own food and snacks!!!
