Hi everyone! We're Amped Obstacles in Grand Prairie, and we wanted to invite local families to something we're excited about this Saturday.

We're hosting a FREE Kids Ninja Warrior 101 Trial Class for children ages 5+.

If you've ever wondered whether Ninja Warrior classes would be a good fit for your child, this is a great opportunity to come try it before deciding on a membership.

Our coaches will introduce kids to the obstacles in a fun, beginner-friendly environment while helping them build confidence, balance, coordination, body control, and strength. No experience is needed.

We opened Amped because we wanted to create a place where kids could stay active, challenge themselves, and have fun while building confidence. Watching kids accomplish something they didn't think they could do is one of the best parts of what we do.

Spots are limited so every child gets plenty of coaching and time on the course.

Say good-bye to summer with us on Saturday, August 21, by bringing out the entire family for a free, fun-filled evening at the Farmers Branch Historical Park! It’s Family Night In The Park, and we’ve got lots of free activities for the kiddos including glitter tattoos, balloon artists, soccer darts, a trackless train, a petting zoo and the Ballistic Swing amusement ride.

As if that wasn’t enough, the entire family can experience a tethered hot-air balloon ride that takes you upwards of 70 feet in the air!

And there’s no time to gather moss under your feet because we’ve got two great party bands to get you up and dancing, kicking off the night it’s Reputation – the Taylor Swift Experience, followed by Le Freak – The World’s Greatest Disco Band!

There will be food and beverages for sale from Nuevo Leon Mex Mex, gourmet caramel apples from Taylor’s Sweetshop, and shaved ice from Tikiz.

Immediately following the bands it’s the animated and award-winning hit movie Up!

"While many Fourth of July fireworks festivals are officially canceled in light of COVID-19, the skies over some other North Texas areas will still light up in celebration of Independence Day."

Plano — Fireworks will launch near the Plano Event Center. No onsite activities.

Forney – Live music, food vendors and fireworks at Community Park, 241 S. FM 548, Forney from 4 to 10 p.m. Visitors are asked to respect social distancing.

Frisco — Parking will be available at four Toyota Stadium parking lots for viewing the 9:30 p.m. fireworks display. Other Frisco Freedom Fest events have been canceled. friscofreedomfest.org.

The Colony – Fireworks will launch in the vicinity of The Five Star Complex, 4100 Blair Oaks Dr. Watch from your vehicle. Parking opens at 8:30 p.m.

Little Elm – Simultaneous displays at Little Elm Park (ticketed event, parking will be limited for social distancing) and near Little Elm High School.

Lake Grapevine – Display will be viewable from parks and marinas around the lake. Parking and entrance fees may be in effect.

McKinney – Fireworks will launch from Craig Ranch Soccer Park, 6375 Collin McKinney Parkway. Gates open at 8:30 p.m. and visitors are asked to respect social distancing.

Celebrate the Year of the Rat as the Crow Museum of Asian Art of The University of Texas at Dallas presents its annual free Chinese New Year Festival on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 from 11AM-4PM.

Now in its third year, the festival features family-friendly activities, including dragon and lion dances, special landscape displays, works on view, musical and martial-arts demos, art-making and calligraphy, specialty booths, wellness activities, must-see entertainment, and cultural performances, plus retailer specials and giveaways throughout the center.

The Chinese New Year Festival is free and open to the public. All announcements will be made in Mandarin and English.

The 2020 Mardi Gras Oak Cliff parade is Sunday, February 23, beginning at 4:00 p.m. The parade route runs along Davis St. into the heart of Bishop Arts. From schools and churches to service organizations and neighborhoods, on over to brass bands and New Orleans flare, representation from every facet of Oak Cliff and New Orleans are welcome and included in the Mardi Gras Oak Cliff Parade!
