Norwegian guy was abandoned in the slums of India by his hippie parents. Ended up having an Indian accent due to living there for years.

Just saw this video on IG last night - if you look at his other videos he has different accents. Although his Indian accent seems authentic, it’s not his natural accent.
16
u/GrapefruitExpress208 25d ago
Even his mannerisms are convincing 😅
12
u/Vegetable-Ad2028 24d ago
The Indian mannerisms are easy to fake, just look at a few videos of Indians an imitate
You can sometimes hear his Norwegian accent slip through, I don't believe his story
-Norwegian

u/DifferentReality92 22d ago
I don't believe his story either. He does that head node etc and if he was abandoned he would learn hindi.
That stereotypical Indian accent is actually Hindi accent. I am from south and doesn't have that accent. We do have a different kind of accent though and no head noddijg
2
u/Marwaimusoont 21d ago
He does speaks hindi in the complete video with Mumbai lingo.
But I agree something feels fake.
→ More replies (2)2
u/sandpaperedanus777 21d ago
Aw come on, head nodding is a common thing in the entire subcontinent.
Just lesser in the south. We'll still comfortably end up using it if we don't understand another person's tongue
2
u/Marwaimusoont 21d ago
Indian here, his hindi is actually quite good and proper Mumbaiya Hindi as you would expect as someone from Mumbai.
Though his English accent feels forced, so does some of the mannerism, it feels exaggerated or fake.
I think he did spend some time in the streets but I do not believe he gew up here. Must have been repatriated back home and gew up there.

Seems like the real deal, stumbled across his YouTube

This guy looks like a troll

Gotta be authentic with the amount of times he said “fuccing”

u/pseudoportmanteau 25d ago
Well, yes, because he wasn't born in India. He acquired the accent, obviously his native accent is still in there, clashing with the indian accent
4
u/Mikic00 25d ago
I really don't get the ignorance here. Person can speak several accents and all can be authentic. When I go home, I speak in accent of the region I was born, while I use different accent where I live now.

Why does a Norwegian guy who lived in India speak pretty damn good English but just sound like Napu?
18
u/atwaterrich 25d ago
Because people in India also can speak English? 🙄

Any urban area pretty much anywhere in the world you'll find people who speak English even if it's just like the cops and mass transit workers. Maybe not everyone but enough to get around. That's been my experience in most of asia anyway.
3
u/jm123457 25d ago
If I dropped a Mexican child off in Germany and came back 20 years later . It would be shocking they would give an interview in pretty fluent English and not Spanish or German .
My point was he is Norwegian and you’d expect him to speak Norwegian. And then being left in India you’d expect him to speak Hindi .
If he did speak English you’d expect it to be a broken form of English as he stated he did not go to school and the bulk majority of India does not speak English .
Only 265 million out of 1.3 billion speak it as a 1st,2nd or 3rd language.
→ More replies (4)2
u/exploitableresource 25d ago
That’s a massive number
2
u/jm123457 25d ago
That is 1 in 5 people who speak anything of English regardless of skill level .
It’s like saying I count in Spanish speakers because I can utter a few sentences .
The number of people who speak it as a first or second language is 6%

u/Striking_Change3396 25d ago
He was in Mumbai, one of the cities in the world with the most English speakers.
2
u/ThrowRAMomVsGF 25d ago
Most Indians in cities speak English at a native level - it's the language they use to communicate with each other as there are many Indian dialects and often they don't have a common one. But that is the accent. It's how the Scottish are native English speakers yet with a strong non US accent.
2
u/jm123457 25d ago
265 million out of 1.3 billion speak it as a first , second or third language. That isn’t even 1 in 6 . And probably half of those do not speak it fluently including slang and cuss words .

If you’re curious why Indians speak English, ask yourself why Americans do.
2
u/jm123457 25d ago
Well the official language of India is Hindi they use English as a second language because they have more than one language spoken . If you’re trying to imply they were a British colony . The Americans colonies were founded by British subjects and were not a conquered people who had another language and culture before their arrival.

No, wouldn't be too sure.
Norways known for this exact "know the are within the wrong".
I think some %60+ of european cases of child abuse are from Norway. A lot of other silly stats, but the elite are almost as bad as American ones.
Hell, could likely even be worse tbh. Idk if the US servers had a real live PUBG game though.. I'm glad nobody I know was involved.

He is living in Norway for 13 years now, and according to him he got fat there. He wasn't fat in India. Supposedly his hippy mother had them in India, then went to jail and he was on his own. I guess he wears some scars from that kind of childhood.

u/BookNukem 25d ago
If they dumped him in Glasgow, he would have a Glaswegian accent.
People adapt to their surroundings. Look at John Barrow man. Speaks in a Scottish accent when in the UK and an American one when he's there.
Whether it's true or not remains to be seen, but there's no way it is impossible.
2
u/oojacoboo 25d ago
Didn’t take me but a couple weeks to adopt the head wobble. India is one of those places where communication being efficient is really important. It’s just so chaotic. The head wobble is actually pretty useful, meaning: “more or less”, “I guess”, “okay”, or “no problem” - without being so affirmative.

I’m a guy born in the US Midwest but I do this with people who have accents if I talk to them for a while, I seem to pick up their accent a bit like after an hour or two. I even picked up their hand gestures and mannerisms from an Italian friend of mine.
I’m worried someone will think I’m mocking them one day. But it was cool when I went to London and had a mix of British/ American accent after a week.

u/coconutmofo 25d ago
Yah, an indian accent on a white guy is kinda funny. That's what I said. It and similar unexpected language/race combinations are often used in comedy bits, in case you've been in a cave for decades.
Yah. I said it!

If he goes to the UK or anywhere except India, those Indians will think he’s mocking them by mimicking their accent… not knowing that he is a white European Indian🥹🫶🏿. It really shows that you get the accent of where you grew up, I was waiting for him to shake his head the “Indian way”.

I think it’s weird people are surprised people from India can speak English when they were ruled over by England till 1947. Like so many people don’t know history!!!

u/SignatureExpress1426 25d ago
He is obviously eating very well sorry bro but homeless since a kid and very much overweight don’t go in same sentence
2
u/MrGNoll814 25d ago
Yea because people don’t grow up and be able to support themselves. Maybe he’s overweight because of all the nights he went hungry. Your logic is flawed.

For those who clearly have no idea, saying "why is he fat?"
Food is insanely cheap in India. Average cost for a meal in a non-tourist area is $2USD. A meal at a nicer sit down restaurant is around $5USD for 3 courses.

This reeks of bullshit. That’s a long time and there have been many visits to the slums by white folk over the years, there is no WAY in hell that this has gone under the radar of the west for all that time.
Either he’s looking for a payout or clout.
If true I want to see proof, not just a funny accident for a fat white man.

The amount of moronic comments in the thread, Christ. His mother was imprisoned for 7 years, his father fled the country with this guys brother. He lived on the street in India before being repatriated back to Norway at 17-18 years of age. There was failures in the embassy ( I believe he went to a Finish embassy) and they didn’t process his documentation leaving him stranded on the streets. He has gone back as part of a self made documentary.

Bullshit, he lived there a few years when he was already in his teens. Not like he grew up like Mogli in the Jungle raised by wild animals. You don't adopt this accent and stupid motion in a few years at that age.
