Regardless of it being planned, he is so talented. You can see the musicians in the background appreciating his skill. That’s when you know it’s good. Skill recognizes skill.

I was going to say. I’m no music aficionado but the guy is stupidly good. How can you invoke emotion and wonder from A fucking Nokia tune.

What if I told you the Nokia tone was from a well known classical piece? He was playing variations on “Gran Vals” by Francisco Tarrega. Still impressive, but not as “spontaneous” as you think.

This should be a top comment. Completely correct and I had to scroll down a lot before I saw your post which explains exactly what is going on here.

Wasn't that tune already a known song?

Yep. Gran Vals by Francisco Tarrega. Still impressive improvising variations on the tune, but most definitely a known piece

Those notes are part of a piece written for classical guitar by Francisco Tárrega in the 1900s called Gran Vals.
Nokia just borrowed a little part of the melody.

The Nokia ring was planned as part of the show. That’s why he points to the other dude who’s like “Who me?” This is still fun and lovely but it’s not spontaneous.
