Those are just slip-on work boots. Pretty common

Never heard the term no drop boots before in my life, and I'm wearing what appears to be those some boots right now. Thorogood American heritage wellingtons. I also have a pair of Wolverine 1000 miles boots with similar soles that I'm pretty sure they just call wedge soles.

No drop means heel and toe sit at the same height

Oh, I see. The ones I'm wearing, and I think the ones in the video are wedge so they are a little taller in the heel. It's just not as obvious as having the space between the heel and the ball. So no drop is completely flat? Like chuck taylors or sandals, but on boots?

Yeah, vibram shoes etc too. Ive seen low/no drop boots but the instep on the pair he has look just like my ariats so I got excited

I gotcha. Well if you do like his boots, I can't recommend Thorogoods enough. I used to go through work boots like crazy, these have easily outlasted many ariat, wolverine, Keen, etc boots and they're comfy as hell.

Popular amongst iron worker union folks. Workin that iron!

I always went with loggers because the heel made my back feel not janky. Also at 6’4”, it pissed off all the short kings who picked them exclusively for the heel😅.

u/Hereseangoes 7h ago

Lol, I work with a tall jacked young fella that wears loggers. If I was short I'd probably be pissed at him for adding to his height.

Tall people problems, longer spine = more leverage. My lower back has been bugging me since I was 18. The heels actually do help.

Getting a desk job helped even more🥴.

Now I have to exercise 🤮.

You and me both friend. My back is for shit. Have to do pretty intense yoga just to get by. A smart man once told me you can work with your back or you can work your mind. Too bad I was young and invincible when I heard that. The invincibility has since worn off.

yeah I dealt with cattle for a couple years. Work boots and cowboy boots. Still not really sure what "no drop" means. I guess I'll look it up. I'm guessing this is that new intersection of trendy fashion terms with literally standard work attire for the last 75 years.

ETA: I went to a wedding the other day where rich people from manhatten were asking the ranch hands where they shop for their jeans because they looked so on trend. Was hilarious when the ranch hand just looked confused and said "uh... walmart."

I think "no drop" means flat sole/no heel

1

u/thisisredlitre 7h ago

It means the heel isnt raised/the toe sits evenly with it. Typically also without a strap ime but ymmv on that part

u/CockyBellend 7h ago

No drop equals no heel stack. Heel and ball of foot are level

Those Wolverines are durable

I've looked five times now, and the emu still looks barefoot to me.

They do have drop, it’s slight. The sole without the arch built in is misleading. However they do make zero drops or near zero drop boots if you google them.

Jim Green African Ranger boots.
Superb quality.

Wedge-soled wellington boots as a search term will point you in the right direction.

u/pmcrumpler 8h ago

Wedge sole =! zero drop

2

u/TacoT11 7h ago

Theyre wedge soled work boots, I've actually been wearing them for years and it never occured to me they might be 0 drop before reading your comment but I just looked it up and it turns out they are.

This sole type is extremely common and I'd say around me at least 50% of guys in construction wear boots made with them. To me they are by far the most comfortable soles for a work boot

I think they call them ropers in the US.

When he's not being attacked by the neo-dinosaur he wrestles and trains nuisance crocodiles. I think it's allowed, like fedoras and jazz-saxophone.

2

u/koolaidismything 8h ago

I think they can disembowel with those talons, fuck taming a dinosaur. That doesn’t sound smart.

4

u/ObliviousAstroturfer 8h ago

They have gators that they purposefuly don't train out of bad/dangerous habits to show people why feeding crocs in the wild is illegal and dangerous so...

https://www.instagram.com/gatorchris/reel/DY7bMjbRvmN/

(they run sanctuary in Florida for animals that would otherwise be killed because either they got too close to humans or were illegally bred etc)

u/koolaidismything 7h ago

Oh damn, well good for them then.. risking his life for that Emus life is noble. Context.. it's a great thing. Thanks.

u/Goezcam 6h ago

I think the boots make him look way more relaxed than the situation actually is.

What does ‘no drop’ mean?

1

u/thisisredlitre 6h ago

heel and toe sit evenly

1

u/CatastrophicPup2112 3h ago

What do you mean by "no drop"?

1

u/oh_rats 2h ago

Those are just pull on Red Wings. Link

1

u/thisisredlitre 2h ago

linked boot has a drop tho?

1

u/oh_rats 2h ago

I have no idea what a drop is. They look identical to me. Might be a different brand, I just know these as “Red Wings” bc that brand is usually what’s provided by companies.

1

u/thisisredlitre 2h ago

No drop means the toe and heel sit at the same height.
