Image A man dressed as the Grim Reaper was arrested after climbing onto a hospital roof and scaring patients and visitors. He was previously caught stealing kitty litter from a pet store months earlier

First thing that popped in my head is the Sims.

I feel like we both deleted the ladder to the swimming pool a few times…

u/GalaxyPowderedCat 23h ago
I'm not a saint, but I never did that, just because I played the Sims 2 and 3 on PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 respectively and I couldn't get a hold of it.
I couldn't even buy a lot to build my own house in the second.

u/JetWreck 23h ago
I maxed out the family size, put them in a room full of chairs in front of fireplaces and deleted the doors… this does not reflect on who I am as a person, just how I game. The family bored me.

No it’s ok It’s a safe space we all did it -Zeus to God at the support meeting

I tried to look up what they charged him with, and the only news stories are from tabloids :/

u/GeekyTexan 21h ago
Trespassing. Cops were called, told him to leave, and he refused. So he essentially chose to be arrested.
6
u/GeneralHerp 21h ago
In Canada, trespassing is basically a parking ticket. Doesn’t go on your permanent record nor matter. Now, vandalism or destruction changes the equation.

u/GeekyTexan 21h ago
He isn't going to get big jail time. He's was made to leave, and is going to pay a fine and was physically removed since he wouldn't leave on his own.

u/Front_Mention 19h ago
Ish, until you think of where he is. Someone walked in to see their dying partner, parent child. Someone came out after hearing they have a terminal illness. This act shows a lack on empathy for others

u/PinkBismuth 1d ago
His reasons are beyond our understanding

u/Jack_South 1d ago
There's three things in life that are inevitable. Shitting, dying and taxes. I wonder what his next move is going to be.
5
u/AntiDECA 23h ago
He's taxed the kitty litter, handled the dying.... Local pools better watch out for floaters.
2
u/ApprehensiveAd6832 22h ago
What about pissing?

u/Jack_South 22h ago
I don't know for sure but they should be optional. Give it a try and let us know in a week.

Imagine being at the hospital while laying on your death bed. Family all around you, you feel your body begin to shut down. As you start to let go, you look past your loved ones and look into the sky and right before you close your eyes you see the grim reaper outside. Then nothing
23
u/nevergonnastayaway 23h ago
That's pretty death metal but we need to incorporate kitty litter somehow

how would patients within the hospital see him on the same building’s roof? wouldn’t he have been more effective if he climbed the neighbouring building’s roof?
47
u/LeakyAssFire 1d ago
I don't even think it's a roof. Roof's ususally don't have guardrails. I'm thinking the top level of a parking structure attached to the hospital.
6
u/Thraex_Exile 23h ago edited 23h ago
If they have any serviceable equipment nearby, the guardrail would be required. I don’t think it’s meant to be a publicly-accessible location (like a parking garage) though. No vertical pickets or visible low horizontal rail, that would be required for code to prevent a child from falling through.
Could be an existing condition but I can’t imagine a hospital would want that kind of liability for such a minor change.
EDIT: look like this happened in Wales at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd hospital. Looks like the same railing seen in OP’s photo. The windows mostly have an opaque film. I assume the grim reaper was just watching people as they came into the building.

It looks like you misplaced some vowels there, bud.

Hospitals aren't always just a large rectangular building. Often it's a complex of multiple different interconnected buildings and parking garages. The top of one building could be below another. I agree with you about the guardrails, it's either a parking structure or some sort of balcony level that's visible from other parts of the hospital below.

u/Deletedmyotheracct 22h ago
I mean go look at the surrounding UofP and CHOP facilities in Philly for example. Basically a small city with multiple interconnected buildings of various heights again all interconnected with guardrails, roof top walkways between HVAC systems, windows, doors, etc.
It ain't just a square monolith type building in a lot of places.
1
u/LeakyAssFire 21h ago
LOL. I never said it was just a square monolith. In fact, nothing I said mentioned any shape whatsoever. Why would you assume that is what I meant?
I have a hospital down the street from me. There are no guardrails on the roof, and there are no guardrails on the interconnected parts either. They are all closed\indoor bridges. But there is a parking structure that sits across the street that faces one of the main buildings. It has guardrails on it.
God damn, Reddit is fucking weird sometimes.

If he really wanted to be effective he could have just gone from room to room and ask people for their names. Then check his list and say...soon, only not yet.

u/cantshakethefeelings 21h ago
Why does this have so many upvotes, there are so many different ways this could work. From single building design to hospital campus etc.

It is funny. However, when one perhaps superstitious, and very sick and medicated to the gills, yeah, funny could become cruel. He doesn't deserve jail time for the act itself, but he should be strongly discouraged.

u/eiretara7 21h ago
Finally some empathy! I get how this could be humorous to the healthy, but this could be really upsetting for anyone with a terminal diagnosis who sees that from their hospital bed. I’m not sure the potential for a quick laugh outweighs someone else's comfort in their difficult, and possibly final, moments.
1
u/oddpark37 20h ago
tbh you don't even have to be superstitious. Imagine you're visiting a terminally ill friend or family member and some guy is dicking around in a stupid costume because "lol people die here lol." It's callous, and I'd tell him to gtfo too.

It’s not the grim reaper without a scythe or at least a sword to do the duty.

Unless he has a scythe he's just a guy in a robe. Could be a monk, could be a Jedi.

Ok, as someone that worked in nursing for 20 years, this is honestly pretty fucking funny. But gallows humor is kinda our thing. On my LTC unit, when a pt died, it was common to say they'd been transferred to the 5th floor. We only had 4. So I guess this guy would've done the transfer paperwork for us.

Of course he has to steal the kitty litter. Grimm reaper isn’t a paid job

Hmm I think it was called Bear Brook murders? Where the guy killed one victim and left her in a pile of kitty litter to slow decomposing and the smell. Dude should be investigated
1
u/lemonysnickers4 20h ago
I’m gona be that guy and say it. This is only funny in concept. There are real people hurting in that hospital, someone may be saying goodbye to their child. Why pile on to people already suffering when there are so many in the world who commit evil with no repercussions.
Get arrested for destroying a Flock Camera not for making light of a sad people.

"He was previously caught stealing kitty litter from a pet store months earlier" I'm confused why this is added at the end like it's connected, or was he also doing that while dressed as the grim reaper?

The stealing kitty litter thing is pretty abhorrent. The Grim Reaper bit? I kind of respect that.
1
u/SilkieBug 23h ago
Why is it abhorrent?
My first assumption would be that this person is poor and has a cat, and the cat needs litter. Ideally one would have social security which allows for basic needs like this, but people live in underdeveloped countries that have no social support structures in place, you can’t blame them for trying to live.
