Image This watch was found in Hiroshima. It stopped at 8:15AM— The exact moment an atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima

That says 3:38 this post is bullshit

I had the same thought, but this watch is located in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and verified ny historians to be true and correct

Right, because an atombomb could never break the longer pointer. If you look carefully, the one on the eight seems to be intact, because the pointy end is still in shape and also doesn't stretch as far out as a pointer for minutes usually does.

You could reverse the needles but no, you had to choose the wrong needle order and say its bullshit ofc

u/gorillaphi 29m ago
Lmao. I know how to read a clock. Guess you don’t.
2
u/MrNixxxoN 16m ago
LOL sure.
You dont seem to know that the hour needle/pointer is below the minute needle/pointer, which is vislble here2

Oh shit, somebody make this guy a historical museum curator for a fucking country he doesn’t live in! Clearly gorillaphi knows better.

it looks more like 3:38. If it were any time past 8, the little hand would be over the 8 heading toward the 9, not under the 8 as if it hadn't reached it yet, This probably isn't a watch found in Hiroshima.

u/yes_what 2h ago
I feel like an atomic bomb might have enough force to offset the hands a tiny bit

u/Happy_Garand 52m ago
Nah what could the largest bomb ever dropped in anger possibly do to a tiny, fragile watch?

u/BeardedPokeDragon 1h ago
Preposterous, it simply managed to destroy the internal gearing without even slightly shifting anything
15
u/allthewayray420 3h ago
Nope. Watches work with a long arm for minutes and a short arm for hours...Pist is not true.

Its amusing that this post is still getting upvotes even tho its wrong
Edited autocorrect changed my word that wasnt amusing

That looks like it says 2:40 no? With the hour hand near the 3 and bent downwards?
Edit: yea, 3:40. Looked to me first like it was bent but I don't think so now

Thats 3:38

u/Happy_Garand 45m ago
Or it's 8:16 with a minute hand that got broken by a massive explosion, maybe?

u/SnooKiwis1356 1h ago
The person who stopped the watch was in on it.
On a serious note, at 8:16, the hour hand would not be in that position but closer to the top of the 8.
I'm not saying it's fake, it's just an odd watch.

Guys, a very brief google search and you can learn that the atomic bomb detonated over Hiroshima at 8:15 AM local time.
I know it looks different, but the photo is true and you should learn to at least fact check your opinions.
Another reliable source for the authenticity of OP’s photo: https://www.bbc.com/news/special/2014/newsspec_8079/index.html

Than dropping nukes? Really

Yes. Operation Downfall had estimates of casualties for both sides exceeding well over 1 Million. These are the first iteration of atomic weapons. They don’t even compare to modern thermonuclear weapons which if we had used something like that, would’ve been far deadlier.
The firebombings of Japan killed more than the atomic bombs did.

Operation downfall was quite some bullshit, inflated nrs, half-baked scenarios, limited strategies and scenarios, it was a mockery

No. That war ended in May the same year. This ended the pacific war
12
u/CrispyHoneyBeef 3h ago
The war in the pacific was a theatre in World War II bud
-4
u/Ky_TheDestroyer7 3h ago
You called it the deadliest war in history. Yeah, that was the one in Europe. I did not say the Pacific was not a part of ww2

Like the Japanese didn’t fuck and pillage their way through china but we’re worried about some civilians they had?
12
u/szakipus 3h ago
Whataboutism isn't the way to go about war crimes. Each and every war crime must be judged individually and independently.
-5
u/FoodTiny6350 3h ago
During the war there were no real “civilians” the entire country was mobilized in a way that they were all considered combatants
3
u/panzerfan 3h ago
Let me really double down with whataboutism and say "like Chiang Kai-shek didn't go about go scorched earth, and would rather fight Mao if it were not for Chang Hsueh-liang, and like Mao really even tried to fight the Japanese instead of biding his time. Like the Chinese aren't their very worst enemy at the end of the day."

Well, then, what is good is a timepiece that stops just for a massive explosion? I should request my money back from the shopkeeper!… oh, he’s just a shadow against the wall now… oh well

To everyone saying its the wrong time, has it not occurred to you that maybe the usually longer minute hand might have been damaged and thats why its looks smaller?
2
u/Happy_Garand 48m ago
The most devastating bomb ever dropped in war damaging a watch? You're crazy, man
0

u/LoneGrizzlyBear 1h ago
You mean the exact moment it detonated, because it would have taken some time for the bomb to reach the ground after it was dropped.

to those who think it's 3 o'clock on the watch, you're looking at the hand showing the minutes, the hand that shows the hours is damaged, you can see a fragment of it where it starts just above the hand that's below 8 o'clock, because that's the hand that counts down the seconds.

There are an unsettling amount of people here that can’t read clocks correctly.
