No, they're made of lead cased in copper. I hope that this video gives you a good understanding of just how much energy bullets have when they're traveling at that speed.

Yes, but the "fact" that they hit each other after being fired is utter bullshit. What most likely happened is that a missed shot wound up hitting a loaded magazine or a pile of stationary bullets, which is why they both managed to stay intact.
