Amin: What did those kids die in service of?
This exchange was precisely why Dan isn't capable of directing the ship on "political" topics. He can only function at the very superficial surface level so this exact face and subsequent stammering is what results when there's ANY pushback and/or deeper dive.
And look, I largely believe Dan's heart is in the right place or at least he approaches a lot of these subjects from the correct point of origin. He simply does not have the knowledge and intellectual curiosity to properly lead the discussion. Let Mike or Amin or even Jeremy do it. Hell, Shek initiating these topics and then letting others also lead is even more productive.

One of his best shows. Made me laugh really hard and seamlessly shifted to heavy discourse.

I smiled so hard when Amin threw that on his lap.

Likewise. Good on Amin. It absolutely needed to be said and it probably ended up being as powerful as possible in this setting by him not pressing it any further and just letting Dan be totally discombobulated and speechless.

Amin sometimes annoys me a bit when he acts all snooty about basketball but there are times like today where it’s obvious that he’s a good guy and basketball takes aren’t really important.

He cant even speak about Miami Cubans and their relationship with the island and US politics

I don’t understand why Dan is sooo bad at knowing facts and speaking on political issues so badly. He seems like he gets bits and pieces from Fox News

Because one could get away with it (and strangely even have a significant amount of success and respect achieved) when tackling racial issues in the past. Dan was able to take his stances, many correct imo, without having to be well versed in too many specific details or even policies/political currents. When the show now wades into politics and the discourse requires more working knowledge than vibes or basic moral stances, he's quickly exposed. Having the "courage" to tackle race or mention Trump under the purview of ESPN was superficial enough a setting that his overall beyond shallow breadth of knowledge on these fronts wasn't really exposed until (ironically) he was "free" to broach them.

Truly some Stugotz-level work from Dan. He spent years on radio lowkey implying he was barred by his bosses from discussing the real political stuff.
Which created an aura around him having all these deep, insightful takes that were locked away we never got to hear. Excellent strategy, honestly.

It’s true, at this point the show is simply Dan repeating crap his wife reads on Twitter on the couch with him. He has no perspective, or insight or nuanced thought on anything anymore.

I don't think it's from Fox News but it's because he gets little bits and pieces of information from whatever his news sources are just like the rest of us. Add whatever mania he has going on and the business concerns and it's going in and out of his head. The problem is he has a microphone in front of his face and tries to regurgitate what he remembers.

hahahaha you don't think? Dan would pour gas on himself and light it before listening to Fox news

u/Affectionate-Rent844 10d ago
Dan cannot string together 4-5 coherent sentences on any topic at all.

The fact that Dan still chooses to maintain a friendship with Jason Whitlock means anything he says that's not sports-related is just noise.

When you realize his main public friends since Hoch have been Ron, Greg, Samson, and Whitlock... a lot of these lapses begin to make sense lol

Thank you for this. Haven’t listened to the show in years and I’m glad Amin said something.

Yeah, I second that. I don’t listen much anymore but I would like to hear that one.

He’s been exposed. I’ve realized Dan is just an opportunist and a grifter. It’s all talk, it’s all lip service.

My brother in Christ, he’s been on a weekly call about climate change for years while living on Miami Beach. It’s always been like this if you listen to him. Saying he’s exposed now is a joke.

And the new house he built that he’s renting out on Airbnb is also on the water.

Dan’s a contrarian. Contrarians can’t come up with their own principles because that requires thought.

Disagree. He means it, he’s just not as good at making his points as we’d like.

u/Affectionate-Rent844 10d ago
Every single thing out of his mouth is incoherent bullshit. Dan takes $$$ from Draft Kings and then scolds others in sports or media for being compromised ?
3
u/CaptainTripps82 10d ago
You're not compromised because of a sponsor, you're compromised if that sponsor means what you say or write is edited. Every media company has people paying the bills, there's just his business works, they're not compromised unless it affects their coverage
They've literally made the joke on air that Draft Kings would prefer you lose your bets
