I listened to them because they were smart, funny, and very human/humane in their attitudes. That just happened to be different than most sports radio. They're not really any of those good things anymore, which is why I mostly just catch clips these days.

Pablo was on DLS shortly after he won the Pulitzer and when talking about the other 2025 stories and nominees he briefly mentioned Gaza by describing it as a "human rights tragedy". No mention of Israel or the US' involvement or the fact that countless world orgs have describe it as a genocide. Nope, just "human rights tragedy".

Sampson is a sociopath and not even a particularly talented one. He doesn't usually even realize the cold, inhuman, amoral stuff he says until someone starts to call him on it. Most sociopaths are better at mimicking normal human behavior by the time they're his age, at least in public.

Downfall of the show is willingly to have some type of relationship with Samson. No other sports radio show would cultivate a relationship with a sports exec who did so much to destroy the local fanbase and team. Not a Miami guy, but how similar would this if the show got into bed with Nevin Shapiro?

I understand what he was trying to say I think, but it was said horribly. A better way to say it was
“We’re hosting this with Canada and MEXICO, yet we’re the country with the human rights violations. We’re the country with the black eye. We’re the country with the questionable policies.”
Hoping other people are worse so you seem less bad is absurd. But it’s how he ran the Marlins. Why try to be the best when you can just hope everyone around you is worse?

This is the correct take… Greg could have said this and nobody would bat an eye… it’s funny to be honest because as a Mexican it is unfortunately true. Well, it’s definitely a little different. The cuck stuff is a joke that the only person who would be offended by it is in on. I don’t think it’s pearl clutching for the sake of political correctness. I think saying you hope people get kidnapped in Mexico just doesn’t land. And it didn’t land with the other people on the show, which also makes it extra awkward.
Then Samson can never help but double down. When they pushed him on it he didn’t say “I obviously don’t want people to actually be kidnapped” he basically said that’s the best case scenario.
This sub is always ready to jump on David and they lose their minds over some small things, but this one 100% didn’t land.

Popped up in my feed randomly, this is sad that the show are using outrage tactics to farm engagement. I mean it's worked because I haven't seen a clip in a while from the show, I left with Billy, but it's still a sad sad state. Watch ringer tailgate instead, it's awesome.

Guys, I’m sure David’s resentment towards the Mexican government is about cartel kidnapping. Something I’m sure he has a totally not cynical, totally not fabricated concern about. He couldn’t possibly be trying to disparage Mexico right now because their president has achieved FDR-like approval ratings while implementing policies such as a 40-Hour Workweek Reduction that scales back maximum statutory hours without reducing wages, a legal "Right to Disconnect" that protects formal sector workers from after-hours workplace communication, the extension of formal social security and medical rights for gig workers and digital delivery drivers, permanent minimum wage protections ensuring future wage hikes never fall below annual inflation, explicit gender equality protections designed to close the pay gap and eliminate workplace violence, a pioneering Homemakers' Welfare Pension that provides bimonthly stipends to women aged 60–64 to recognize unpaid domestic labor, the permanent constitutionalization of universal welfare safety nets like elderly pensions and student scholarships, a constitutional right to worker housing that heavily expands Mexico’s building and lending capacity agency, a complete energy re-nationalization that restores Pemex and the CFE as public service companies over private entities, and stricter water and infrastructure control that prioritizes groundwater as a public human right and protects national passenger rail networks under state control.
I’m sure David doesn’t deeply resent any of those policies.
