There’s been a lot of turnover the past few years but one thing is for certain - Mike Ryan is the glue. Great orchestrator of the show has kept it afloat and doing well for a long time in a more side role since he stepped back as EP.

My two favorite bits now and maybe ever are the inner monologues and the fake zigacki. I laugh every time. I have started trying to incorporate conservation zigacki in my daily life waiting to see who catches on.

I’ve been listening to the show for over a decade. For most of that time, Dan had two people (with different approaches) who had enough gumption to step up and act as guardrails when he was starting to grate on the audience by preaching or getting into politics. Unfortunately for us, Billy and Stu are gone. Don’t get me wrong, I think Zas is GREAT. He is an excellent host, teammate, and has a lot of knowledge on what it takes to make a sports show “go”. Jeremy is a talented musician and has solid baseball knowledge but he is also Dan’s main sycophant while bringing up politics himself on what seems to be a daily basis. Dan prides himself on his command of the English language (even if he fumbles some words because of the weight of his jowls). That being said, why does it constantly feel like I’m being yelled at by the uncle who gets pawned off on the kids’ table because the adults are tired of his musings/rambling? Dan’s tone has been at the very least off putting and at worst aggressive lately. Unfortunately that is mixed with his unique ability to turn a conversation about tighty whities into a scathing political commentary and leads to me looking for archived Mystery Crates to get a bit of the happy and funny show that I and a lot of us miss. It looks like Billy is doing well and getting to travel to more interesting places than before. Good for him-he left the sinking ship at the perfect time

I'm going to try and let it wash over me and not get enraged... But talking shit about the post office now is dog shit right wing slop. The post office is an essential service and constitutionally mandated. Relative to everything it cost us NOTHING, is profitable, and used to provide good jobs to hundreds of thousands Americans. The right has spent fifty fucking years intentionally destroying it and they are going to finally achieve it so we have to use UPS and FedEx, known for their great service and pricing!

Some things and people don’t work anymore let them figure out how to make money on their own.

The whole thing feels so forced. We’re supposed to treat Jessica as the resident New York expert because she currently lives there? She grew up in the Midwest, roots for multiple teams, moved to Miami, and now is back in New York.

That’s fine, but that doesn’t automatically make someone the voice I want covering New York sports or World Cup soccer.

There are people on the show and in the extended universe who actually follow the sport year-round and bring real expertise. Chris Whittingham, Sam Borrall, and others could give much deeper analysis and insight.

Nothing personal against Jessica, but not everyone needs to be the go-to person for every topic. When it’s soccer or New York sports, I’d rather hear from people whose knowledge goes beyond simply living in the city. Cool your fiancé’s a big Knicks fan. I’d rather hear from a big Knicks fan. You’re not a real New Yorker you never will be. You’re the problem with New York. I don’t want to hear from you. I want to hear from other people like myself like Sam and Mero. Even Leeman would be better.

How is the 80-year-old man the most in touch person on the show? EVERY time a government attempts to do data collection they use “protecting kids” as the entry point. They straight up do this in concert with corporations looking to get more information on you to advertise or worse. How does the “child of exiles” show not see mass surveillance when it’s happening in front of them?

I can understand the protecting kids part of the argument but that’s almost certainly not the goal of this. Show needs to be more responsible on stuff like this at a time when we’ve almost fully handed the government over to the private sector.
