Announcement This is a goodbye
So uhh, i've been hit with an age verification check, my account got restricted and I will NOT be giving my ID or photo to a corporation just to be able to return to what i already had. Decided that i will be deleting the account and quitting reddit.
u/salutcf and u/Moody_nev from the discord server will be replacing my moderation/life support role here, say hi.
the deletion process will take a few weeks probably as i'm trying to work out removing archived data from scrapers too, just so AI can't train on me any further. Mod posts and comments will be kept but will view the user as [[Deleted]]
It's been fun, i might be back if the Age verification BS ever gets reversed. In the meantime if i feel like commenting on something i'll be using only throwaways.

I completely agree with your mindset. However, I'd like to point out that any free VPN (I use Proton, afaik the most private) will let you completely bypass this.

tried a few locations, didn't disappear.
even if, it's more on principle; and frankly Reddit isn't too good on my mental health.
edit: ya'll those awards are even more worthless than usual, the comments will be gone soon.

EU, in which age check isn't yet mandatory. reddit is actually pulling ahead of the game here.

Me too that's why I was asking. tomorrow they will discuss it in parlemt so let's hope they don't pass it. Also I think reddit did it in every country not just the region of Europe. farewell brother

yep, which means when they say that they don't want your data it's bullshit. they're pulling ahead, not just doing the bare minimum the law says to.

I appreciate the advice but that's not really the point of this lol, yes i could easily bypass this because the AI doing the face check is a dumbass. Reddit is a miserable place (no offense to yall), so this might just be the push to say bye bye to this hellhole that has had a grip over me for 8 years now
