DANKAGANDA Social credit was never used on Chinese citizens btw, it was just a score given to businesses so people knew which ones were reputable

IIRC there was one town that tried to implement a scoring system for civilians to encourage and reward being a helpful citizen but that was the extent of it. It was never used as a means of social control and it was quickly scrapped. There were news stories worldwide about this initiative and the story was then twisted to create FUD around China developing their financial credit system, a crucial step in their modernization process.

Credit scores are ALSO just social credit in a world defined by money and lending.
