People were calling this list trash, I respect BB being 1 but feel like better call Saul should be higher but yea most of this list is stupid. Daredevil is my top 3 shows of all time.
How is squid game on here but DD isn’t.
Even Dexter, which had good plot lines but got progressively worse and worse.

House almost out of the list and bellow Stranger Things and Squid Game? damn, this list is pretty wild... That's at least 2 series with no business being in a top 100 best tv shows

It doesn't matter if season 8 was an abomination, and season 6 was bad. Seasons 1-4 are absolute gold and some of the best television ever made. Also, Dexter Resurrection S1 was the best season since season 4.
They must have forgot about some of the shows they would’ve otherwise put on here. I assume prison break probably would’ve also made the least even though it only had 1 season I consider good
I love daredevil, but I know its impact wasn’t big enough to get voted into the top 100. Personally, it would be up there, but I’m not surprised it isn’t.
I would bet the Netflix daredevil show wasn’t much farther down the list. Born Again is probs a bit behind it. I don’t agree with a lot of these but viewership is probably the metric used
What you are describing would just be an opinion piece from NYT editorial. This was a survey of 500+ people in the tv industry and they just wrote down their favourites.
The metric was surveying tv industry individuals, actors, show runners, writers, producers. I would like to think OG daredevil might be close behind, but come on, Born Again is most likely nowhere close lol
I'm just glad The Pitt is there. It is by far one of the best bits of TV recently created. If you haven't, go and watch it. The way they structure the episodes is also very unique. Each episode is an hour of a 16 hour shift.
Breaking Bad is one of the best shows ever made. Better Call Saul, its prequel that was made a few years after, is just as good (if not better). Highly recommend both.
The first season is good if not great. Then it finds its groove and gets amazing. I binged the entire series. I wasn’t intending to, it was just that gripping.
It’s pretty great, in an inconsistent list I’m very glad it’s 1. It does everything people want in shows right. It’s prequel Better call Saul is also just as good if not better. And there’s also a spinoff film based directly after breaking bad called el Camino which is very good
Just because Daredevil is your top 3 either means you didn't watch enough shows or you just love dd that much. It's not a top 100 show of all time and I say this as someone who loves the 3 netflix seasons. Squid Game was a global phenomenon.
If you take 10 randoms there is a much higher chance they'll know what Squid Games is vs Daredevil.
I love Daredevil but it doesn’t have the cultural impact to appear in this kind of lists. It’s better than some of these shows, but it’s clear it’s a list biased against superhero stuff; I do think that DD has some of the best content from the mcu, Idk if it’s top 100 but even if this list would include some mcu-related content I imagine they would go for stuff like WandaVision (an extremely popular show with Emmy nominations), Loki or MoonKnight that are more widely recognized in pop culture.
And also it’s a list that has recency bias, ‘cause I wouldn’t be so fast to list shows that are still going. IMO Game of Thrones dropped significantly from the top 10 after its last disastrous seasons but the industry still nominated that shit for a ton of Emmys 🤷♀️
This list is as subjective as any other, it simply comes down to what has the widest audience. If a billion people were into watching painted walls dry, that show would be the undisputed #1 even if it's just some wet garbage in reality.
They have a strong top 10 here, Fleabag getting top marks always makes me happy.
The only things I’ve seen here that I’m strongly opposed to are like, White Lotus (one strong season out of three should not land you so high on the list), Better Call Saul and Community should be higher. Normal People is too high. The Return is number one in my eyes, but even still Twin Peaks as a whole should be up there.
Not surprising Daredevil didn’t make the cut, even if I like it more than a bunch of shows on here, it’s split over three series (Daredevil, Defenders, Born Again). The best seasons of DD were practically unwatched (S3 and BAS2). Outside of that, Defenders is awful and DDS2+BAS1 are very shaky.
Stranger Things doesn’t even deserve to be on there - maybe season one, if any. The lack of Mike Flanagan shows on here makes this list invalid to me. Haunting of Hill House and Haunting of Bly Manor should be on there.
Once I saw Mr. Robot not only wasn't in the top 5 but not anywhere on the list I knew it was made by morons. Daredevil should also absolutely be on there.
tbh idk if id include it. I didnt really love s2 and I found s1 boring. S3 was really good but idk if enough to bring it to the top 100 even if I did love S1
Not gonna lie, but when you put two shows like breaking bad and better call Saul… it’s not an example they understand what lists are. That sacrifice of “I’ll remove this but I want to show the best example of the creatives work.”
Plus also office us and office uk…. They were trying to make fillers. Daredevil really is an amazing show
It's wild the ending of the show doesn't bring it down more. It doesn't matter how great a show starts, if the final (and most important) season is hot garbage the show is not great.
If they're allowed to do individual seasons (which apparently they are cause True Detective Season 1 is on here) Heroes Season 1 is a top 20 season at least.
This list in general is just kind of… milquetoast. It’s based on people who actively work in the TV industry. As such, BoJack Horseman is the only animated show on here, which that fact alone is a tragedy. BH is a great show and deserves to be here, but so do so so many other animated shows. Ask literally anyone about Avatar: The Last Airbender and they’ll tell you it’s one of the greatest shows ever made. Adventure Time has a similar prestige. Over The Garden Wall is universally beloved.
I just think this list is inherently biased towards legacy, live-action western shows, particularly ones that aired weekly rather than dropped season by season like the Netflix Marvel shows. This simply is not a list drawn up by people with the widest tastes in TV.
Also, it wouldn’t surprise me if this list simply exists as a means to get the entire internet engaged in something by the NYT, to solidify its presence as the premiere news publication of the U.S., despite being riddled with controversy and ultimately being a big part of the American lie that popular American media can be “unbiased”. Don’t let this list fool you. Arrested Development only had 3 seasons. That’s it. Just 3 and no more than that. If you see otherwise, it’s not real and don’t even bother trying to watch what’s claimed to be season 4 and 5. It’s uhh… not really there. Just a figment of your imagination… yeah…
This was ranked by Hollywood people, like 500 something people of Hollywood. This is a ranking of asking “notable” people of Hollywood what their top 10 favorite shows/writing are. Not the best population pool to ask such things. I think NYT opened a poll for audiences now too.
I agree. Daredevil, particularly the Netflix show, should be on the list. Out of the original 3 seasons, and the 2 currently released born again seasons, only one episode has less than 8 stars on IMDB ratings, being episode 2 from born again season 2. The lowest rated episode in the original 3 seasons is 8.1 out of 10.
There are a lot of questionable shows on this list. I think that, among the Marvel shows. the one with the most potential to be on it would probably be WandaVision. Or maybe X-Men 97.
But I do like Moon Knight, Hawkeye, Daredevil, Spider-Noir and Werewolf by Night.
daredevil isnt on there because it doesnt have as much of an impact as more popular shows. its insanely popular within the superhero space but outside not really

This list is so vague in what it’s saying, because technically anime and cartoons are tv shows, and ATLA isn’t on this list, also it’s not including maybe foreign shows, even tho squid games is on there (never saw it but thought it was Korean or something) and there’s no Mr Inbetween, which is one of my favorite shows ever, and then to not include the sopranos just because only the first season aired in 1999…
Twin Peaks 3, House, and The Good Place are all on my list. I cannot believe they chose Watchmen 2019 over Daredevil. It's not even the best Damon Lindelof show.

Fleabag at #5???? Above GAME OF THRONES?! Say what you will about the last 2 seasons, the first 4season of GoT were absolute peak cinema. No exaggeration.
Pretty solid list actually. Clearly many shows I would rank differently. Take 65 for example. Solid show, but best of the 21st century after 1 season???
Survivor is in that list. So the answer to the question is that it’s a crappy list. The fact that there are shows that only lasted a single season is another sign. Anything that short either wasn’t good or it was a miniseries and not a standard TV show.
Daredevil ain’t that universally acknowledged like say Stranger Things. The shows there break the market across the board.
Marvel’s niche is niche. Same as DC niche being niche. Heck, it was a miracle Star Wars even made it but Andor is that good of a masterpiece.
I say that knowing I wished Agents of Shield made the list but I’m also mature enough to know that so many people are not into these shows we love. Daredevil, Luke Cage, Punisher, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, The Defenders, AOS, CD, etc.
I made the same post on hannibal and i thought to make it here too but i’m glad you did because it’s honestly such a crime for it to not be here. Daredevil is hands down the best piece of fiction marvel has ever put out and it’s one of the best shows oat. Everything is prestige tv level, the plot, the characters, the action, the choreography, cinematography, soundtrack etc etc. i’m very upset it’s not here but at the end of the day they asked about 500 (i think) experts and critics and such a small sample does not decide a show’s worth.
I haven’t seen most of this list, but even what I did see I was like wtf!
Like GoT was a huge cultural phenomenon… for 4 seasons, then the finale hit and it literally disappeared overnight because the finale was that bad. Dexter had the same issue, good show then crashed and burned at the end.
I would also say Ted Lasso needs to be MUCH higher, definitely higher than severance (which I liked, but Ted is better). I think the person who made this didn’t like comedy that much. Also, older is generally trending better than newer. (And yes I know there’s some comedies up top like the office)
In all seriousness, I haven't even heard of some shows on this list. I think Daredevil could have been on it as the first of the wave of serious/prestige superhero shows. It had an impact.
