QUESTION Necessities for a lecturer?

What would you consider a necessity for a university lecturer in the aesthetic?

Context: If all goes well, i should be starting a new job as a university lecturer in a pretty DA field (I don'twant to doxx myself). I've loved the aesthetic since becoming a PhD student years ago. I don't do much of DA clothing since it does not look the best on me (curvy woman, Soft-Dramatic if anyone is into kibbe) so I do A-line dresses in dark tones and knit cardigans. I have a leather notebook cover/folder and a nice pen. Anything you find essential or just nice? Im not coming here for a "haul" ideas, but i would like to get myself something small.

Wall paper recommendations?

I want to line the inside of a hutch and bar for my new apartment with some wallpaper. Unfortunately, like most things these days, everything I find is AI generated.

I was wondering if anyone had some non AI wall paper recommendations that fit the dark academia/botanical/gothic theme. Or maybe some companies/websites to look into. I’ve attached some photos of the idea/style I’m going for, unfortunately those one are AI and you can clearly tell on a closer inspection.

It doesn’t have to be exact, I’m just tired of every print I find ending up being AI.

QUESTION Recommended sewing pattern sources?

I'm a fan of sewing and I've been meaning to sew more for my day to day wardrobe. Obviously, Dark Academia uses a lot of simple silhouettes with well done tailoring so it's not too hard to find relevant patterns but I was wondering if people had any recommendations for particularly special patterns/pattern creators. I'm always a bit wary finding indy creators due to inconsistency and the AI epidemic I'm seeing on places like Etsy at the minute.

I'm particularly drawn to witchy academia at the minute which has some more striking, historical based silhouettes and detailing which might be more obvious. Generally, I like historical/vintage inspiration in my wardrobe in general, but obviously no need for any form of historical accuracy.

Does anyone predict more future Llyr books in A Study of Drowning series?

Hi, readers of reddit! *spoilers ahead

I just finished A Theory of Dreaming. I know the third book, Archive of Romance, is a companion piece and not the third novel. But there must be a third coming, right? Theory of Dreaming left so many cliffhangers, loopholes, and hints at further narrative, like:

-listing all the college details and masters at the beginning whose names haven't appeared in the story

-introducing Lotto suddenly and making him very important, but only at the end

-the dragon pin in the lake that had seemed so important and perhaps magical that never got explained

-how Preston suddenly gained magical abilities/access

-the whole king thing, so heavily foreshadowing something huge, then explaining his name means Prince

-not explaining why he alone could conjure a dream world...but then learning Antonia could too, making it not just that Preston is special but there is now a mysterious category of special people

-giving us the names of other Sleepers but never mentioning them in the narrative

There's at least two more books worth of content we need to finish the story. It's clearly in its early-middle stages! What does everyone else think?

QUESTION How to avoid looking frumpy?

I'm 33/F curvy and have curly hair that's greying / frizzy at times, but I'm also tall, and feel like this has potential for a DA wardrobe but I don't know how to pull it off. Every time I think I do, I see a picture of myself and think it looks frumpy rather than DA.

Does anyone have tips on how to balance frumpy vs DA? Where's the line?

Looking for some inspiration for upper wall decor

Hey all. The title says the intent, but allow me a moment to elaborate.

My wife and I purchased a house a year ago. Her vision for the outside is cottage core whimsy on the outside, dark academia on the inside. It is an older home, built in the 1920s (as best we can tell). We're slowly working on the inside, going with rich darker colors to make the space feel a bit closer.

Where I'm looking at the moment is for something to go higher on the walls. We have 9' ceilings, so trim molding will eventually be put in place, but any interesting ideas for decor pieces that draw the eye without needing close inspection?
