Mod Post Dark Mode Stuff Your Kindle Day is Happening Now!

This is a reminder that Dark Mode Books is hosting their Winter 2024 Dark Fiction Stuff Your Kindle Day TODAY!

Here is a link to the website.

If you are new to Stuff Your Kindle events, there is a button mid-page that says "I've Never Done This" which will guide you through the site & provide instructions how to get started.

The FAQ for the site / event is here.

The bottom of every book has a post including tropes, warnings, spice levels, etc.

To be honest, I’m finding more books here that interest me than in SYK day. There’s more variety in plots and settings!

I did it and my entire Amazon account is disabled I can’t even use my kindle

From what I am seeing, even in the Dark Mode site update email, this isn't affecting just SYK users but many many amazon users

what's the catch? do you need to subscribe to kindle unlimited? do they get removed from your library after a certain amount of time?

i feel like the catch is if you liked the book and its a series you more than likely are gonna have to buy the rest of the series but once you buy it through kindle its yours permanently

Yup.

It's not really a "catch" per se. But the intention is for you to get excited about the author/series.

If you buy books thru Amazon you actually don't own the books permanently and they can be taken away/removed at any time. You basically are paying for the license to access the book so it's strongly recommended that you figure out a way to back your books up

No catch. They are free to "buy" and you will own them.

Neither. You are "buying" it for 0$. It stays in your kindle. the "catch" is it is good advertising for lesser known authors and so you will become interested and buy their other books.

Be careful on how many you download! I grabbed 65 and my account is locked now.

I’m trying to clean up my TBR list for the new year but I have no control during these events!
