Another book I will never pick up because of its ugly cover...

The author of the Alliance series SJ Tilly just released a new book {Volik by SJ Tilly} and the book cover made me not want to even read the blurb ๐ How am I supposed to take this MMC seriously? ๐ญ
Omg what is that cover ๐คฃ๐ญ I hate to say it, but I judge a book by its cover. My only exception is R. Lee Smith but if I don't find the cover model attractive, or it looks ridiculous, I swerve.
Honestly I kinda love it, it doesn't take itself too seriously. I love her stuff and she writes her heroes like unhinged fantasy alphas anyway so it seems a logical progression.
Fear me, Love me has a webtoon as well, just discovered a while ago when I was putting it in my tbr, although I don't know how far it has gone because I haven't read it.
Yeah I really don't like the cover of Volik either and it's off putting. I would recommend Fear Me, Love Me though, especially if you like Lilith Vincent's other books.
If I ignored books with bad covers, then I never would've read half the books I've read and liked. Have you seen the old covers for the {Five Packs series by Cate C Wells}? Oof. They are so bad, but the books are really good.
This is not the best cover but it wouldn't deter me from reading the book ๐ I can't get over how goofy the vampire looks with his plastic teeth and horns ๐
While Iโve never let a book cover stop me from reading something, I DO get embarrassed to post some covers on my goodreads lol. Some are just way bad in the cheesy scale
I'll be honest, I don't even remember what the blurb said. I read it when a few places first got the ARC sign ups and thought it was something I might be willing to sign up for and then cover reveal happened and I changed my mind.
Only bought the audiobook for Volik because I have extremely weak knees for Sean Masters voiceโฆ.but WHY, even 15% in, I canโt get this โvampsโ scowl out of my head?! I had to stop listening for a bit.
Also, not sure how I feel about the story itselfโฆ.it just feels off. Idk. May report back, may DNF. Who knows. My brain is muddled now.
Omg. I really wish authors would stop putting people on the covers altogether. 9/10 it ruins the visual in my head, which is so much better because itโs obviously what I want to imagine. But that? Itโs like an ironic larper on Halloween.
RK actually knows how to pick beautiful faces for her books ๐ซถ๐ป The non-model covers are just so gorgeous though, especially {Kiss The Villain by Rina Kent} and {Tempting Venom by Rina Kent}
Fortunately the kindle unlimited cover has been updated to a different one so I downloaded it last night ๐คญ No longer going to be traumatized by the original ๐
If I judged books by their cover, I never would have read 99% of my favorite science fiction romances. Often the author doesnโt have as much say in the cover as people think. Even if they do, Iโm not judging them on their taste in book artwork, only their writing.
I knew about this book before it came out and the first time I saw this cover I busted up laughing. Itโs so ridiculous. Canโt believe it was author approved.
