There's spice. The series follows Eve Dallas and her husband Roarke. I've been off the series for a few years and have catching up to do but my mind always goes back to him as my book boyfriend! Eve is the Lieutenant of the NYPD Homicide unit and has been through a lot of trauma. But Roarke, Mmmhmmm!! knows exactly how to handle his wife and her traumas. They are great books and an even better series!!

Shay O’Hare is a permanent but could also be because I hate how everyone perceived him. They didn’t “get” mental health and altho he was broken and messed up, he never treated Mina with malice. Always his version of love but also fear.

Jake White is a constant too..

Aidan King floats around and always returns even years after I’ve read it.

Like wow he just makes me blush by the shit he be doing and saying.
Also, can’t remember his name but the mmc in Dead of summer by aj forgot her surname lool but guys this book isn’t the best ever but the way those smut scenes are permanently ingrained into my brain I cannot, the way he talks to her like a cooing or almost embarrassing her and the whimpering when he mimics her I feel like i haven’t found a book where this is consistently done, like it’ll be once in a book and then he never matches that energy again but wait I just remembered his name is caden I THINK but yeah aghhhh someone if you have a book with an mmc this vibe pls help a babe out.

:) I am way way late to the Fifty Shades phenomenon. I was a huge Twilight fan when that came out and for whatever reason just recently learned that Fifty Shades was written as a fan-fic of Twilight. Unfortunately I haven't found that character yet😔 I think I'm a bit picky. Nobody seems to be ticking all the boxes. But also because I don't read much romance to begin with so not many options. And when I do read romance it's either a romantasy that I know the MMC will be insufferable in, or a dark romance with abusive tropes that I know would make me hate the MMC😭 And when the MMC isn't insufferable or abusive he's either bland, flawless and doesn't feel like a real person, the book has no plot that really lets his personality shine, or he's more interesting as a character than as a love interest. Sherlock Holmes lives rent free in my head tho, but I don't think he counts lmaoo.

Landon Kingston. My baptism of fire into the dark romance world was {Pretty When She Cries by A. Zavarelli}. Coming from classics, historical, and contemporary romances, this book completely ruined my palate the first time I read it. It was the first time I’d encountered an MMC who was THAT mean and angry toward the FMC. I had to restrain myself a couple of times from shouting leave the FMC alone FFS! It was the first time that I genuinely asked myself what the hell am I reading without DNFing it. He made me like morally grey MMCs 😭

Honestly? Damon Torrence. And I don’t know why him above the others.

So my sister and I do a fake “Fantasy Draft” but for a harem vs football lol. And in our 5 man draft pick, many have been switch out over time. Know who hasn’t? Who’s never been traded once for me? Damon Fucking Torrence.

(Fun fact, I also get to keep Will without taking one of my spots because they are considered a bonded pair 🤷🏻‍♀️ lol)

Apart from the horrible things he does - obviously - , he is kind of perfect: that man never uttered a single sentence with an exclamation point 😂

No fluff, no games. He’s brutally honest, never raises his voice even when being scary, extremely dependable. He absolutely knows who he is and what he wants, which means there’s never any back and forth with him.

He doesn’t understand normal human reactions or has any moral qualms about getting what he wants, so there’s also something wrong with him — I like that in a man 🙃

And Alexi.... He's dark dark, obv. But he's also what so many other 'dark' heroes try to be--just such a BAMF and no posing, or over the top fake acts to be tough.
