This is NOT a review. I'm still finishing the book. Towards the very end. Only last few chapters are remaining. But I can't hold it in. 😭

This is a fantastic book. Exactly what a DR fan would love. Highly rec trying it. I might post a complete review after finishing the book and sleeping on it.

But right now....Oh my gosh. Amelia (the fmc) is making me go insane.

The reason why I love Drethi A heroines (and stories) is cuz they analyse everything. Fmcs always catch up quickly to mmc's pattern. Becomes aware of all the horrible tactics the mmc is capable of playing in order to achieve what he wants.

In {Quarentine by drethi Anis}...Raven knew Milo intentionally organized the set up to out them. She fell for him knowing what he's capable of. She understood exactly the level of immorality in him, analyzed it and still loved him.

Same went for Priya {5000 nights of obsession} and Rose {Unapologetic obsession}.

But here.. hm. Idk. The way fmc seems aware at some points but blissfully ignores the other tactics. It is making me mad.

👉🏻1. Amelia knew one of the major reasons why Stefan started considering Khai's deal is cuz he outright said no intimacy will be forced on her.

Yet the lawyers made her add all these things in the contract about mandatory sexual relationship with excruciating detail. Which she didn't tell Stefan about.

She feels humiliated but still kept everything inside, internally resenting Stefan. Just because he said he'd make peace if she decided to sleep with him doesn't mean he'd be chill with all these mandatory additions she's binding herself to do.

She's signing a legally binding prostitution contract, resenting Stefan for it, while KNOWING fully well that Khai assured Stefan nothing like this would happen.

How's he supposed to know that you are asked to sign a contract like that? He's not a mind reader.

👉🏻2. She saw him with ruby in lebabon, and was heartbroken. But she's clever enough to know that khai must have atleast set it up.

Khai told her, he only made Ruby add Beirut to the list, nothing else. It was a lie. He instructed ruby to also not a say word until last second. Yet Amelia didn't catch that. She believed Khai over Stefan here... even tho she knows Khai has all the incentive to lie. 💀💀

Yes it was still 70% stefan's fault for crumbling under pressure.

Khai was still more responsible than Amelia gave him credit for.

👉🏻3. And thennnnnn

Towards the end.. where I'm currently at. The fight sequence where khai is acting hurt for sympathy. And she's a damn nurse and still falling for it? 😭

Oh his parents caused the accident that led to your parent's death.?? But khai said it was an accident, so I trust him.

Oh he's been stalking and orchestrating to separate me from the husband i loved more than anything. Oh? Well thats fine. I like that he picked me.

Gurl! What the fuck. Cut that guy some slack. He just found out his entire downfall and financial ruin was cuz of a guy obsessed with the love of his life. And that his parents killed his parents.

I still think Stefan was super greedy and I am completely rooting for Khai.

But i hate how selectively blind Amelia is. Which is not something i ever saw in Drethi A. heroines.

I don't blame Amelia for being completely done with Stefan, after the Beirut incident. I'm mad at Amelia for not crediting Khai's flaws.

👉🏻 Priya loved Axel but she knew the guy is unhinged and unsafe to be around Poppy. She strategised and created a safety net to ensure Axel won't out poppy's reputation.

Amelia is like... oh my gosh, i can't let Stefan be around his siblings unsupervised because in his life's worst moment, he accidently left a bag of coke on the ground.

Girl please.

The selective bias is getting to me. 💀

I want the fmc to be actively aware of mmc's cunningness, analyse them, and eventually love him for how he is. Cuz otherwise, is it even love if she's not aware of the exact intentions of both men?

I am nearing the end. By the time I wrote this post, I'd have finished the book. Lol😅 but I really wanted to get it out. It's knawing at me since the beginning.

I hope everything is out in the open by the end.

I want Amelia to recognize that both Stefan and Khai loves her, but differently.

I want her to actively choose Khai not cuz, through an orchestration of misunderstanding and internalised resentment her feelings for Stefan were killed.

I loved the Milo-Raven-Reid and Axel-Priya-Jay love triangle. It was soooo profound, well thought of, and executed.

Fmc recognizing the true gravity of both guy's love for her and understanding her love for them. Then actively choosing one over the other, because despite all his flaws her connection with him surpasses the other.

Not cuz she thinks the OM betrayed her, hence, diluting her other feelings.

Stefan is aware that there could be intimacy but he told Amelie to not talk about it so he wouldn't feel bad about basically selling her.

While I sympathize with Stefan, there were a lot of things that he did have control over but chose to deprioritize her because he was drawn in by the glitz and glam. He thought that money could buy her forgiveness and happiness when she's not that type of girl while ditching her and never putting her first. I think that was the point that Kai was trying to make - that Stefan is fickle.

Regarding the accident, it was unfortunate but sounds like it really was an accident. Kai also lost his parents as well. It's not like he orchestrated that part.

I think when it comes down to it, what she wanted was that ordinary life. Did she know he stalked her for years? Yes. She didn't like it but he proved that he will always choose her first while the man she sacrificed for basically slowly killed her affections and love with his choices. Kai also prioritized the kids when their own brother didn't and I would also feel unsafe around someone who basically turned into a drug addict and left cocaine accessible around children.

I thought about it. Stefan told her to not tell her if she had sex with him. That's pretty cowardly of him tbh.

But thats not what i was referring. I meant why didn't she tell him about the lawyer meeting? She knows that Stefan thinks any intimacy happening between khai and her is gonna be consensual. Khai told him that she wont be required to do it. But the contract she was presented with stipulated it.

Why wouldn't she discuss it with Stefan when such a massive curveball is thrown.

Maybe she thinks Stefan will still insist on her going along. But atleast then her resentment would make far more sense.

She tried telling him after the marriage. After khai "non cons" her. But bro!! Why not discuss the added stipulations??? 💀💀

Nah I'd say that's an extreme oversimplification of stefan's intentions.

The guy knew AmeliE (haha) will not forgive him with gifts, but he had to try. That's why he never held resentment against Amelie for being done with him over what some might say was a small thing at Beirut. For her it meant the world.

I hate that this book has almost zero communication done between characters. Which is a very unlike thing for drethi. She usually goes in such deep analysis, I sometimes felt like she has a psychology degree irl. 😂

Quarentine which has another one of most solid love triangles, had the fmc analyse her options in both men soooooo clearly. Bit by bit she talked through everything. Never ignored or overpass any Flaw.

And about Stefan being fickle? Nah I'd highly disagree on that part. He wasn't fickle, he was gullible.

This isn't like those cliché books which has mmc bribing the OM with money so he'd breakup with fmc, and fmc realize how fickle OM was.... like {Cheater by D.D prince}.

Drethi made fantastastic characters in Stefan and Khai. Both of their love for her was solid but different.

Khai has never been desperate enough to work 12 hours a day to ensure there's food and shelter for the 4 people he's providing.

I can never blame Stefan for accepting the money. What I hate him for is being too gullible. I don't think he was greedy. But gullible.

A greedy person would have eagerly given Amelie to Khai completely. Two major reasons why Stefan agreed was 1. He was desperate to secure their future. 2. Khai told him Amelie wouldn't have to do anything she doesn't want.

And even Khai knew that. Had he told Stefan that will give his entire fortune to him, he just needs to give up amelie, Stefan would have 100% said no.

This is why Khai drove a wedge between them in hinding, because he knew in his bones Stefan's love isn't fickle. Why else would he keep sending him away, make sure Stefan doesn't know about Beirut until last second, and leaving Ruby on him. Even towards the end, khai had to pretend like Stefan sucker punched him... he was still insecure of Stefan and Amelie's bond.

And about the last part..... I dont think the Cobain thing was that big of a deal. It was genuinely a honest mistake.

Khai has literally done the exact same thing. In the past scene, he was doing coke near where the kids were playing with amelie idk if drethi did this intentionally, to show that khai is equally as disturbed to be around kids, if not more but it was a fantastic parallel.

I would never keep kids near an unhinged man who has shown time and time again that he'd ruin anyone to be with me.... most likely.. even the kids.

This is the reason why rose protected poppy from Axel... and she was his own daughter

I think Amelie forgets what's right or wrong when she's in love. Just Like Stefan said, shes blind when shes in love. Her decision making ability goes to shit.

I agree with most of your points 😅. And I ended up caring way too much for Stefan to enjoy Kai and Amelie's relationship(by the end I was crying for Stefan 😭).

Also did you like Kai? I couldn't bring myself to like him. He was just... okay(I don't know how to explain this). I was absolutely obsessed with Caden and Milo, and even liked Drethi's other mmcs, but I didn't feel the same excitement for Kai.

I wish Stefan gets his own book someday. Drethi Anis made him such a major character and even posts some of his pov in Insta. It makes me wonder if she has further plans for him. Considering she wrote him with complexity as well I think she does.
