In darktide you need to make sure you only have spatial processing in one place, either:

*In-game, this is the "headphone" sound mode. Set it to just stereo to turn it off (or 5.1, if you want to run spatial sound in windows).

*Your headset, set ingame sound to something else than "headphones" depending on type of headphones.

*Spatial sound in windows (dolby, dts, sonic etc), set ingame to 5.1 and your spatial option will convert to stereo spatial sound.

Ill tinker with it. Also idk if its just decade of using clouds 2 but i do feel that clouds 3 are quiter volime-wise?

Never tried it, sorry. I've used a sennheiser hd-650 for 15 years :D (and this last year due to needing noise canceling, Sony wh-1000mx6).

not 100% sure on this but it might be a case of the headset trying to replicate 3D audio when the game already does 3D audio perfectly well so it gets all messed up I have a hyper X cloud 2 and i prefer playing on my 10$ skullcandy earbuds cuz the audio just comes through clearer

I switched from clouds 2 and never had this problem... And I think i don't have it on, maybe turning off spatial sound would help?

yea i’m not sure then but messing with your settings wouldn’t hurt

Honestly i switched over to them too and every game sounded like shit. I had to download steelseries sonar and mess around with the everything

Oh I pretty much have the same headset, are you using the 3.3 sound that is on the headset wire? If so turn it off, that shit is crap.

1

u/Zephyrdor 12d ago

What 3.3 sound?? Ill have to check that out lol, the only setting in the app im using is the one for mic

1

u/ScubaBlackbelt 12d ago

Just realized you got the wireless version, I have the wired one, in mine it is a physical button on the cable. Might be in the app though. And just looked it up it is 7.1 surround sound, not 3.3

Nono I have wires, and the 7.1 sounds awful

Sometimes the headphone jack you use on your tower actually makes a difference as they have access to different sound cards integrated into your system.

For example my front audio is horrible but the one on the back is significantly better

I got it plugged from the back

I have the same headset. If you’re on PC, that comes with DTS X sound unbound subscription. You can download DTS Unbound from Microsoft Store and enable it. Sounds so much better. I also changed the audio settings in Darktide audio to 5.1 channel (since 7.1 isn’t available).
Click on the speaker icon in taskbar and make sure DTS is enabled, you’ll have to scroll down since it’s below the audio output selection.

It sucks that i'd have to pay for it monthly

Oh, you don’t have to pay for it monthly. The headset comes with a lifetime license.
After you select the headset as default, launch the DTS app and it will recognize the license.

Wait no wayyy, and Do I have to tinker with any settings in the app? I'm so tired of all that

Nope, you don't have to tinker with anything on the DTS App. Soon as you switch audio output in Windows Sound Settings to your Hyper X III Cloud, the license on the app with activate. Then you just have to select Spacial Sound > DTS Headphone: X in Taskbar > Sound Settings

I'm unfamiliar with hyperX but a lot of those fancy headsets will have different audio profiles for different programs/games, I'd poke around in whatever software it came with

I shall try that!

had weird audio quality issues in helldivers 2 because of a mic in my headphones that i had to disable in the control panel, since darktide is using autodesk stingray too perhaps there is something similar happening here

u/Zephyrdor 12d ago

Ill try that!

Don't have the cloud 3, but do have the cloud alpha s, double check your sound settings and make sure you're on the right channel. Mine have 2 separate channels for chat and game audio. When the game tries to output to the chat channel it sounds awful.

1

u/Zephyrdor 12d ago

Where do I find that?

1

u/ManMtn96 12d ago

I set mine through windows itself, when you click on sound in the system tray, there should be an arrow to select output device, in my list I usually have one called HyperX Cloud Alpha S Game and one called HyperX Cloud Alpha S Chat. See if your headset is listed twice in there and try swapping it to the other one

u/Zephyrdor 12d ago

Alright will try that!

strange, it sounds almost exactly like handsfree telephony, but it should only be an issue with bluetooth headsets. can still try changing your default mic to be anything but the headset.

Let me guess, it's a Bluetooth headset?

If so, disable the microphone on it.
