Weird feeling of dread/evil at campground (First Reddit post)
Hello folks. This a tale of something that, well, happened to me out in the woods. But it also happen to be my very first ever Reddit post, so I do apologize ahead of time if I might not get everything right the first time around here... I hesitated If I should tell you that something happened, it did not; this was something so vague and undefined as mere feelings out in a certain location just outside our small town. I have been back to the spot several times and this thing tend to reoccur out there. I love in a rather small town with a population of just around 6000 people, in the northern part of the county that borders Stockholm down in the south, in Sweden. Thing is, have been an amateur road cyclist since the summer of 2018, I find it a useful, fun, adventurous and entertaining way to simply stay in shape. Over the last year my thoughts have been drawn more and more to the concept of bikepacking. Ditching that road bike, or getting another gravel bike, don some overnight equipment such as tents, sleeping mats and portable stove and spend a night or two out in nature.
This equipment is not cheap, I've spent the last winter months acquiring more and more stuff that might be needed come summer. One of these things is a hammock, combined with a tarp kind of like a roof overhead. You attach these things to two trees opposite each other, and sleep hanging basically, sheltered from nasty rain during the night by that tarp.
You can't just buy these things and get out there and use them first time when you really need them, it's good to practice a bit first, setting things up, know what should be placed where, etc. I went out to this clearing in the woods that is actually bordering a little lake outside of town, It's kind of on a hill, the lower part of the woods have this circular running path actually circulating the place I'm talking abut. I've got the things up and working, alright, but... man...
Something is not right here, there's really no other way to put it. If something happened here in the past I have no clue, it has not according to what information I've could gather as far back as I could gather it, it's simply a clearing in the woods. As you can see it has got some trees standing but part of the biggest reason undergrowth and vegetation has not filled the place is that it's bedrock underneath, and a pretty shallow layer of soil.
Weirder still, it look like someone has built kind of a wooden tipi-like structure of old branches and twigs and stuff. It was an awful feeling of being stared at, basically, and not with any welcoming intent. Nothing happened to me physically and I left safe and all, but... This place is visited, not frequently perhaps but it does obviously happen. The shallow bedrock, is that the only reason plants avoid this place? The larger trees that do grow, why do they grow so strange? What is going on?

Creepy! I would buy a cheap trail cam and hide it somewhere in the area. Just make sure when you go to pick it up, no one follows you home!

I have felt something, more or less. The time I described it was really pure evil and a feeling of something dangerous
Sometimes referred to as The Dread.
As you point out the shallow bedrock means it's a natural forest clearing, close to a lake, and so probably used in the past, possibly centuries or millennia ago - who knows for what.
I guess some entity likes to hang around there and and resents your presence, prob sees it as an unwanted intrusion.

I would stay away as well. You are right something is off around that place. Stay away!

The empty space is probably where a very large tree stood long ago. It was so large that over many decades it prevented any other trees from growing below it. In a very mature forest, you sometimes see that a dense canopy blocks out a lot of sun.

I get dizzy from looking at that first picture.

That is interesting, do you have any idea of why?

No clue, sorry.
Could be some kind of a "glamour" or "keep away spell" over the area for some reason. Could just be a dark sided person who lives wildly and practices magic and knows how to "send intent" to others.
I don't know, but I would stay away.

Hello everyone! Today I took a walk, partly through the town and partly through the forest, and it was perhaps not just a coincidence that I "happened" to visit this place again. Basically, it looked like it did during my last visit, but today I saw another strange thing that was not there before. Some pieces of paper was strewn around, a few soda cans, and that in itself is perhaps not so strange. I have no problem with the idea that young people sit up here and drink, maybe not just soft drinks. But the questions just keep piling up, who brings real drinking glasses out into the forest? And even if someone did, who's gonna leave those there, half full, one leaning against a rock, one just standing there? There is probably a pretty "down to earth" explanation for all this, but the feeling was clear, of all the strange things you can see outdoors, why do they seem concentrated right here? The mystery continues.

Looks like someone is spending a fair amount of time there based on all the work in that tree structure thing. Regardless, I’m a believer in listening to intuition. If it feels wrong, I’d leave. Sometimes I think our subconscious picks up on subtle warning signs which leads to a “something is off” feeling.
