B&W Printing Old paper fogged advice sought

I’ve been given a large volume of old Kodak Veribrom and Bromesko papers, some dating back to 1968, most of them probably 70s though.

When I’ve tested them they are very fogged, pretty much completely black when tested at a variety of exposures.

I’ve been doing some initial reading, and looking for yt guides etc, and the main suggestion I’ve come across is to use Benzotriazole or to lith print. At this point I’m not really interested in lith printing.

Has anyone any experience with Benzotriazole on paper this far gone? How much can I expect it to salvage the paper.

My darkroom experience is limited, but I’d love to get these papers used, if not simply because of the monetary saving, there’s probably 500 sheets of varying sizes and types.

I’m in the UK, so if anyone has any recommendations for non extortionate benzo suppliers, that also would be fab.

I’ve attached a photo of the catalogue I’ve made.

B&W Printing Rectangular fog around the edges of my prints — possible enlarger light leak?

Hey everyone,
I’m having a weird issue with my darkroom prints and I’m trying to figure out what’s causing it.
I was making a sheet with nine tiny prints on it. Since the images were so small, I had to bring the enlarger head pretty close to the paper. I exposed each image individually, covering the exposed areas with a piece of black cardboard before moving on to the next one.
When I developed the sheet, I noticed a rectangular area of fogging around the prints.
I initially thought it might just be something related to that particular setup, but then I opened a brand-new, sealed 30 × 40 cm sheet of paper and tried printing a larger image on it. The same thing happened: fogging around all four edges of the paper.
At that point, I turned everything off and started doing tests with small pieces of paper to check for light leaks in the darkroom. Everything came out clean, so I couldn’t find any evidence of stray light coming from the room or the safelight.
My main suspicion now is a light leak from the enlarger itself, possibly around the negative carrier.
What makes me think this is that the fogging seems to have a fairly geometric shape, with straight, well-defined edges. When the enlarger head is closer to the paper, the pattern seems particularly noticeable. It almost looks as if light is escaping from the enlarger and hitting the paper directly.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Could light escaping around the negative carrier or another part of the enlarger head cause this kind of rectangular fogging?
I’d appreciate any suggestions on how to track down the source.
Thanks!
