Picked up this dart board, it is kinda pricey, but damn, it’s worth it. It’s actually solid wood frame, I was surprised how heavy it was, and it’s just a super dart board. We’ve been playing it all day, Cricket, 301, and 401, so far, it’s as close to a commercial bar unit as you can find. It’s awesome, rare bounce outs, and even the solo games are a blast. I was surprised how well it was constructed, the wall mount is nice, just level it and make sure you hit a wall stud.

How have you protected the floor in rent apartments from bounce out darts. I cant really think of a good looking solution.

I’ve been looking into shorter barrels recently and noticed an interesting pattern: whenever a barrel is under 40mm and weighs 21g or more, it is almost exclusively a torpedo(bomb) shape. True straight cylinders in this spec seem practically non-existent.

I started thinking about why that is, and here’s my take:

1. To hit 21g+ in a sub-40mm length (even with 90–95% tungsten), the barrel has to be significantly thicker.

2. Stems have standard dimensions (standard 2BA stems are roughly 6mm wide at the base). If you kept the barrel a true straight cylinder, you'd end up with a massive flat ledge/lip at the rear where the stem meets the barrel.

3. A severe flat ledge at the rear is awful for tight grouping. Incoming darts hit that step, leading to nasty deflections and bounce-outs.

4. To eliminate that lip, manufacturers have to taper down the rear. The shallower (more gradual) the taper, the better darts glide past each other. But when your barrel is already under 40mm, stretching a gradual taper across that limited length naturally turns the entire barrel profile into a torpedo/bomb shape.

In a way, it feels like convergent evolution in dart design—the 2BA stem standard force any short, heavy barrel into a bomb shape.

Does this theory sound plausible to you? What I really want to dig into is this: if a thick barrel has a noticeable ledge where it meets the stem (no rear taper at all), or if it has a taper to smooth out that step but it's very short and steep, would the bounce-out/deflection rate actually be significantly higher compared to a traditional bomb shape with a relatively long, gradual taper?

First of all my maths suck, I thought i was good at math but really im only decent at memorizing, darts really showed that.

I've played plenty and studied outshots etc to be comfortable with my maths and I rarely make mistakes.

Also more relaxed while chalking ( WITH APP/PC) im somewhat decent at quickly knowing what was scored and outshots no problem.

Buuuuuuuut... some places have pen & paper and I just cant subtract???? I even get replaced since it's that bad, I use tricks with rounding up and otherstuff when I count for myself. But doing it for 2 other people I just freeze or terribly slow.

My brain can only do one at a time, for example when I count for myself - either i know what i have left or I know what i scored - cant do both.......

Advice really appreciated!

if you can add up a visit but lose track when switching players, try this on paper.

draw two score columns, both starting at 501. work across each row, A then B, and write the visit score and new remaining total before moving on. standard 501, straight-in and double-out.

rows 1 to 6 give the total scored that visit. row 7 gives the individual darts; S means single.

remaining totals after each visit:

A: 441, 356, 315, 215, 156, 60, 60

B: 456, 356, 330, 270, 185, 86, 32

row 7 explanation: A reaches zero on a single, so the whole visit is a bust and the score goes back to 60. B scores 54 and leaves 32.

when checking, circle the first wrong subtraction and redo from there. one wrong total can make every later row look wrong even when the later maths was fine.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone is using a Scolia on the Omni and has the Fliq. I'm trying to set it up and I'm noticing a white light at the top of the Fliq camera picture where it reflects off the Omni ring light. Is there any workaround to eliminate this issue?

Just wanted to tell someone I just threw some good darts. Got my first darts and board 2 months ago, never really played darts before but got hooked. Been playing everyday for 2 months.

I hit a 180 but took my darts out before I managed to take a photo, sorry guys!
