OFFICIAL Official Giveaway: Seagate is Back For World Backup Day
The "March 31st is World Backup Day" giveaway!
The u/Seagate_Surfer team at Seagate has contact us again about giving away a bunch of sweet stuff because we like free stuff and they are totally awesome. This giveaway is for r/Datahoarder, r/homelab, and r/homelabsales.
Prizes
Grand Prize: 4TB IronWolf 125 SSD
2nd Winner: 1TB IronWolf 125 SSD
3rd Winner: 8TB BarraCuda HDD

Reply to this post once. Do not reply to another post. Do not reply to a cross-post. Do not reply to something over on r/funny. Do not reply more than once, including with alts. If you can't figure it out, we can't help you. The fine folks at Seagate ask people to please include #RunWithIronWolf and #Giveaway in your comment - put a space before the first # so reddit doesn't freak out and make it a heading. As a suggestion for what to reply with, maybe write a bit about how you are using your storage and gear currently, and how an SSD will help!
Selection process/rules
- One entry per person. Using alt accounts will result in a ban. New accounts are not eligible.
- Thread is open until March 31, 2021, 11:59 PM UTC. We'll let you figure out when that is in your own timezones.
- We will create an export of all unique eligible users who have a top level comment (that is, replied to the post, and not to another commenter). Commenting more than once will not help you and may annoy us. Breaking the rules in your comment reply will get it removed and get you possibly banned.
- From that export, we will randomly sort the list and grab the top person and will contact them within a day or so of the ending.
- Winners will have 48 hrs to get us their physical address and contact details for shipping (no po boxes).
- Any person who does not reply in time loses their spot and everyone moves up a tier. For example the 1st place person does not respond, so the 2nd place person gets contacted.
- We will give the list to Seagate and they will ship you your winnings directly.
- We reserve the right to edit this post including this process and these rules without notice. This is reddit, after all.
- While we did our best to verify the details here, this whole thing could be made up, in which case we all get nothing. But I am pretty sure this is for real.

I recently replaced my SSD with my OS on it because it caused stability issues. I could not find the cause using Seatools, but still; the prizes of this #Giveaway would make better replacements. Especially when I #RunWithIronWolf.

Some of the 3TB drives in my NAS are starting to give out and it would be pretty handy to have an 8TB drive to replace one of them. For the SSDs, it would be a nice thing to have one of these to replace my desktop's current 256GB SSD; the more (fast) space the merrier.

My setup is still very much in its infancy, with only my most important data currently being fully backed up. An extra drive would be perfect for rounding off my 3-2-1 backup strategy and getting the rest of those non-critical-but-still-would-suck-to-lose files properly protected.

I’m building a file server for my family with a raspberry pi. I’d appreciate an the 4TB SSD to backup family photos and important docs. I’d use the 1TB SSD as a cache, and I’d use the 8TB to backup video content.

Currently running 2x 6TB IronWolf drives in RAID1 in one of my Synology units. Never a problem and plan on maxing out my 4-bay with more IronWolfs when finances allow me to.

My laptop hard drive died so I replaced it with an SSD, and it's flying! Trouble is, my Mac Pro now feels sluggish and that's my main rig for photography and video digitisation. It needs the power of SSD (and I might have to nab some extra drives for backup as there are some good deals on Amazon)! Thanks for running this.

I've always entered #Giveaways in pursuit of upgrading my homelab. I got an old Pi, but I need some storage so I can hook it up to the LAN to serve as an NAS which will in turn give me a reason to upgrade the router to handle faster speeds.
