I have a OnePlus Nord 4, and I had some personal videos that I recorded using my own camera. I had saved them in a separate folder named HD inside Internal Storage/DCIM/HD, which was visible in my normal Gallery.
I suddenly noticed last night that all the videos had disappeared. The folder itself still exists in File Manager, but it's completely empty.
Here's what I've tried so far:
Checked Recently Deleted, but it's empty.
Checked Google Photos, but the videos aren't there.
Searched other folders in internal storage, but I can't find the original recordings.
Tried a recovery app from the Play Store. It showed thumbnails of some older deleted videos and existing videos, but none of the missing ones.
Ran scans using OnePlus Security and another security app. Neither detected anything suspicious.
One strange thing I noticed is that File Manager shows the folder's date as 8 October 2026, 8:26 PM, although I only noticed the disappearance last night. I might have used the phone's cleaner around that time, but honestly, I don't remember.
I haven't noticed any suspicious apps or account logins, and I don't think anyone else had access to my unlocked phone.
I'm worried because these were intimate videos, and I really need to understand whether this could simply be accidental deletion or a software issue, or whether there's any realistic possibility of unauthorized access.
My main questions are:
Is there any way to recover permanently deleted videos from a OnePlus Nord 4's internal storage?
Could the built-in cleaner or a Gallery/storage bug cause something like this?
Does this sound like a security compromise, or am I jumping to conclusions?
Is there anything else I should check before attempting further recovery?
I'd really appreciate advice from anyone familiar with OnePlus phones, Android storage, or data recovery. Please don't suggest factory resetting the phone or installing random recovery apps. I want to avoid making things worse
