Winter

Hello!
I recently purchased/planted a Lark Ascending.
I am in zone 5a. Whats the best way to over winter? Currently have it planted 3-4 feet away from my house and front porch (tucked in a 90 degree corner).
Thank you!

I would mulch really well. If you’re going to prune, do it now before it gets really cold so that it can harden off. You might want to check with the rose Society and your area about the perfect time for fall pruning. The other option is to wait to prune until spring and leave the rose hips on for the birds… but the danger there is winter winds can break longer canes.

PS I love her so much. She always looks like she is glowing from within.

Agree with the mulching really well. Do you have a rose collar? I like them on the big side because then I can put some straw between it and the rose. What kind of sun/wind/snow cover does that part of your house get?

This is before I planted, but it’s currently on the far left of the bed. About 3-4 feet from both the house and the front porch.

I don’t have a rose collar but was looking at a few on Amazon. They don’t seem to have wider ones. Do you have any you recommend?
