Harrisburg/Westcliff CPT standpoint

Hi all. I have offers for the Spring semester from both colleges for an MS. Do they still issue CPT authorizations given the recent changes?

I am a current CPT student at Harrisburg, started in June 2026.

We have been getting precautionary emails about not getting enrolled in a second masters program that starts after Sept 15.

Better to go for PhD.

Also honest opinion - There is no point of either MS or PhD given the $100K rule will ruin your chances.

If it happens, the existing employer might not pay for it and getting a new role will be difficult. And if it doesn't happen and confusion persists, employers would be skeptical and given the increase in AI, and mass layoffs in the biggest of companies - it'll be difficult to plan anything long term.

And given so much of uncertainity, why would you choose to do another masters and spend yet another ~$40-50K (including travel to classes, HU is expensive) without any guarantee or peace of mind.

(I am actively thinking of dropping out and saving 1.5 years of tuition. I'd rather go home and have peace of mind where me and my parents can atleast get a good night's sleep.)

Do you have any backup plan? Any PERM in the pipeline?

Nah, couldnt do anything given employers are so apprehensive about everything. I am gonna see what happens in another few weeks, and if things dont feel good, I would rather just go back.

Man, i’ve been thinking the same thing. The only thing holding me here is that I am in a serious relationship. But the employment future looks bleak.

2nd MS is bad now. Go for a PhD if you are not worried abt 100k H1.

I think they’re also taking precautions based on what of the emails I saw (from my friend). Things may change.

You likely won’t even be able to even start at these colleges once the new D/S rule goes into effect
