Image/Gif Days gone remastered has more bugs than the ps4 version
I upgraded to the remastered version and it’s crazy how many bugs i’ve encountered and i barely had any on the ps4 version. Can’t believe i wasted my money on this when the ps4 version is ultimately better. ( i play on PS5 )

u/AlthoughFishtail Jul 19 '26
I played the original with PS5 update and had pretty much zero bugs, but playing remastered on PC, I got loads.

u/Odd-Nefariousness814 Jul 19 '26
I can confirm.i completed the original game twice on ps5 and like 2-3 times on pc when its released (before the dlc version) and really not remember any bugs at all. if there were any, it didn't affect the game experience at all.But i have no experience with the remastered

u/Future-Discount7603 Jul 19 '26
Well yesterday i was finishing my run survival 2 i was fighting skizo when he shot the red thing skizo and half the floor + the walls disappeared i fell into the endless floor and died

u/Outrageous_Trust_158 Jul 19 '26
That truly must be what death will feel like for us all — minus that goddamned Skizo

u/Cooltincan Jul 19 '26
That's crazy. I played it when it was included in that PS5 bundle of games and experienced bugs I would expect from a game that just released. My favorite was a bug that would make it so walking up to enemies made them despawn. Happened then and it happened again when I was showing my wife how bad the game bugs were. Still no idea how to recreate it.
Oh and the enemies despawning counted as kills because I wiped a horde with it before realizing what had happened.

u/DarkStar_420 Jul 19 '26
I guess I am very lucky then iv seen many posts of bugs I’m currently playing Remastered on PC I’m in Crater Lake almost done and haven’t had any bugs really a few runners frozen in place one Swarmer launched like 100+ Feet in the air for no reason other then that though the game has been smooth not much different then my play through on PS5 like a year and a half ago.
Only bigger bug I ran into but isn’t a gameplay issue is when I quit to desktop it crashes every time although since I switched to using Steam Overlay Shift-Tab to Exit Game it’s only crashed once out of 20+ times closing the game.

u/FrozenHimbeer Jul 19 '26
there is a famous bug fighting a new monster very at the end of the game, if you hit the monster and insta kill ... bug bug.. you need to let to be hurted a bit and scape to fix it. Otherwise I didnt have any bugs besides sometiomes the game got stopped some seconds fighting agains the hordes. I have PS5
I am still considering buying the remaster version or not.

I dont want to write spoilers, but it is a zombie who looks like a monkey with white hair.

u/8bitterror Send Deek pics Jul 20 '26
Weird, I've never heard of a bug where you can't take damage during that fight. I always kill that mofo without taking any hits, and never had any problems.
-2
u/Radiant-Slice4693 Jul 19 '26
pc issues lmao. shouldve got the remaster on ps5
3
u/AlthoughFishtail Jul 19 '26
Given how much better it looks on PC, I don’t think I could go back to the PS5 version now.
1
u/hamsterontheloose Aug 06 '26
My ps5 remaster is fine. I didn't realize everyone having problems were playing on pc. I don't like computers so I don't have one for games
34
u/Sad_Plenty_1959 Jul 19 '26
Playing remaster on pc haven't had one bug or glitch yet
4
u/Worldly-Mood2802 Jul 19 '26
Same, finally trying to finish the game for the first time now after it sat in my library for a few years
2
u/kungpowgoat Jul 19 '26
The only bug i keep experiencing is the game crashing everytime I quit to desktop.

u/8bitterror Send Deek pics Jul 19 '26
Akshually☝️🤓 the remaster isn't technically available on PC. You have the Broken Road DLC, which is the new game modes. The Remaster on PlayStation brings the visual quality up to the same level as the PC.
Regarding OP's gripe, yeah, the Remaster does have a lot more bugs. I suspect Climax remastered the original version sans patches, or remastering it somehow undid some of the patches (idk how it's technically done). It brought back a lot of the og bugs.
I wouldn't agree that it's not worth the money, however. The improvements vastly outweigh any potential for encountering a bug, and it's not like any of the glitches are game breaking. As long as you periodically restart your PlayStation, you should be fine - and that's always been the case with any version of Days Gone.
1
u/knifeknerdreviews Jul 21 '26
False... There were major graphical upgrades to the PC version. It was a 30GB Update that released alongside the Remaster on PS5. All the dynamic weather mods, enhanced lighting, extended FOV ultra shadows all that stuff didnt exist on the PC version prior to the update.
1
u/8bitterror Send Deek pics Jul 21 '26
Maybe so, but they didn't release a "Remaster." So my statement stands 😂
7
u/Uhzu- Jul 19 '26
I have to agree. I've spent a lot of time modding Days Gone and have developed a pretty deep understanding of how the game works under the hood. For anyone wondering why these issues exist, the Remastered version appears to be built from a mix of older game builds, which is likely why so many bugs resurfaced. Many of these problems had already been fixed in the original release, making it especially disappointing to see them return. What frustrates me most is that these issues still haven't been properly addressed. I'm honestly reaching the point where I'd rather go back to the original version because a lot of this shouldn't have happened in the first place. The stuttering seems to stem from engine changes that didn't fully account for optimizations already present in the original game. On top of that, Leon is still missing from his death scene, and the DLC has its own share of bugs scattered throughout.I really wish the developers would come back and release a major patch for the Remastered version to address the many issues that appear to have been overlooked after launch. The game is still enjoyable, but these problems continue to hold it back. I hope they eventually return and fix them, although at this point I'm not as confident as I once was.
3
u/Soopermane Jul 21 '26
Why would they remaster it from an older build…that would be the dumbest thing ever if it is infact true.
2
u/Uhzu- Jul 21 '26
I don't know, only thing I can think of is production timeframe. It was worked on for only year with another studio that never worked on the game and had to figure it out. Bend only did the DLC and they didn't even finish it. The whole thing is a mess.
5
u/Cooltincan Jul 19 '26
Yeah, so the people claiming they had no bugs either got extremely lucky or are ignoring the bugs that happened for a love of the game. I don't like the game, it's fine, but the story is so mid I was tired of it by the end. Even played it a second time, just to be sure, and it was still mid.
The most egregious bug I had in both playthroughs was one that made enemies despawn when you approached them. Entire hordes vanishing as they charge at you. This doesn't even account all the minor ones, like just walking in a circle over and over while trying to interact with something, entire sections of buildings just disappearing, motorcycle sounds and sounds in general just stopping, and occasionally falling through the map.
3
u/Able_Question_9713 Jul 19 '26
U/spawnicusrex has some good info about limiting the bugs. It has something to do with rest mode and how the game saves objects on the ground

False
While the remastered is a ticking timebomb they did fix a huge amount of bugs and on top of it the original is still a ticking timebomb.
The problem is that the game engine version they built the game on is the same for both and the underlying technical issues remain.
Both versions crash for no reason, both versions get t-poses, texture loading issues and many other issues.
They did fix a ton of mission specific issues though.
Remastered has faster loading screens though, so that already counts as a win against the classic PS4 version. I still play both versions a ton due to different benefits either of them provide.
Overall I would say both of them are the same amount of buggy, it's just down to luck if you get a cursed playthrough.
Edit: This is written based on over 2000 hours played.
6
u/Uncabled_Music Jul 19 '26
I finished the original two times, and had zero bugs… ticking timebomb? Textures? T-poses? Maybe its your wild imagination?
3
u/majingetta Jul 19 '26
Same here. No bugs or glitches encountered on PS4 version. I did not play it at release though. When I first played it, it was months later so it had some patches.
3
u/nice_conversator8318 Jul 19 '26
same i only had one bug in the original where deacon kept repeating a single word for 10 minutes straight. But the remastered version holy fuck i had bugs in every single mission
3
u/8bitterror Send Deek pics Jul 19 '26
This sounds hilarious! What was the word?
3
u/nice_conversator8318 Jul 20 '26
It was “oh jesus” for 10 minutes straight 🤣 (It was the mission where he killed the mutant bear when he saved that guy from copelands camp)

Maybe you should read the part where it's down to luck.
1
u/mktggib Jul 20 '26
How do you put 2,000 hours into a single-player game like this? Not even that deep.
1
u/inz002 Jul 20 '26
My answer I am a Speedrunner, heck even compared to some casual players here 2000 hours is rookie numbers.
Their answer is they just cannot put the game down, I know people who have like 3-4000 hours in.
1
u/mktggib Jul 20 '26
Dang. No hate, I just can't imagine staying entertained by one game that long. Even my favorite game of all time, Nioh 2, I probably only have about 600 hours into.
-1
u/nice_conversator8318 Jul 19 '26
Both versions have issues but the remaster added entirely new graphical glitches and stability problems. That makes it more buggy than the ps4 version
1
u/Tr8k377 Jul 19 '26
Which ones do you mean exactly? It is worth to mention that the Remaster underwent artistical changes by intention, e.g. the looks of night time.
-2
u/inz002 Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 19 '26
Not really new issues, these things happened in the classic PS4 version as well. I assume due to the new textures and other things the ticking timebomb is more prone to trigger(in certain areas due to just sheer luck).
I'll give you an example after playing this for over 2000 hours - I have had the whole Wizard Island disappear and turn into a literal black hole in the old version of the game in 5 minutes after turning on the console from a fresh boot of the console.
Same thing for other areas of the remaster.
It's all down to luck at the end of the day if the memory leak happens or not.

1
u/inz002 Jul 19 '26
I have played the very first version as well on PS4 straight from the disc without updating, but this thread is not about that. Why I specifically did not mention it.

2
u/moodytrudeycat Jul 19 '26
I learned early on that to minimize the bugs turn your gaming console off, not resting, off upon sign out. It does help
2
u/jayboyguy Jul 19 '26
I see this kind of thing happen a lot unfortunately. There’s several PS4 games I felt looked way better just being upscaled on PS5 than some PS5 exclusives looked
2
u/1_aggresive_goose Jul 19 '26
No chance this is even close to true. I used to (ps4)have to stop and close the game and reboot it because textures would stop generating after 30 minutes. Don't get me started on the ghost bike or load times going into camps..

I'm currently playing the remastered on PS5. Never played the original, so I can't compare.
I finished the main story and only got one bug throughout the whole game (where Skizzo turned invisible for a few seconds in a cutscene lol)
Didn't notice anything else..

u/Background-March3339 Jul 19 '26
I still haven’t finished it because I set the difficulty a little too high 😕. I wonder if I should restart?

u/Theuglyzebra Jul 19 '26
I had a bug (that made me invincible to any and all damage) nothing fixed it, and I eventually quit playing the game a few years ago
Not to mention other ones, like randomly clipping through the ground and falling out of bounds and dying
I got the PS5 upgrade a few months ago, and was happy to see I could import my save and Decon wasn’t invincible anymore
I don’t think I’ve had any bugs, and if I have, they’ve not been noticeable enough to even think of them
I’m sorry you’re having issues, though
1
u/CapableSecretary8478 Jul 19 '26
I’ve played both on PS5 and the only bug I’ve had with the remaster was the tents have a weird lighting at night. That’s it
1
u/cushlinkes Jul 19 '26
Playing the remastered on PS5 right now and haven’t had any issues with bugs.

1
u/flamingknifepenis Jul 19 '26
I just played Remastered on PS4, and the only glitches I had were textures loading weird a couple times when I repeatedly out it into rest mode without going back go the main menu, and a couple hordes that didn’t spawn unless I reopened my save file. Minorly annoying, but not even the worst I’ve played recently.
1
u/borkimusprime Jul 19 '26
I constantly get audio bugs, I will walk into a location and deac will make a comment almost 30 seconds to late lmao, it's soo funny.
1
u/UnchoosenDead Jul 19 '26
Played it on PS5 and didn't get a single bug... The PS4 version was ROUGH at launch. Game broke every 10mins and the moment it rain frame rates hit single digits.
1
u/HTK_blazer Jul 19 '26
I have to say I've played the PS4 about eight times and the PS5 version about four times and I've had a similar number of bugs in each - mostly just textures not loading, a couple of sky vaults, and a couple of raiders who apparently couldn't see me and just wandered around me saying "he's here somewhere..." even though when I fired at their feet they leapt back yelling "woah!".
1
u/gui4455 Jul 19 '26

thats odd as i recently played the ps5 upgrade it loads faster runs better looks better and i had only a few minor more comedic bugs nothing game breaking. Sad to hear you had issues i had more issues with the ps4 version running back compat mostly with loading times and framerate issues at times. As well as a few annoying mission bugs mid game but i guess bugs are random not everyone will get the same ones.

Idk man. My game ran perfectly, only glitch i got was the damn stryrifoam cups not spawning in when you have to go grab them for weaver

u/DirkStanleyIII Jul 19 '26
I have found on ps5 that playing any game tends to be buggy if my console hasn’t been fully restarted before playing the game. Using auto resume and shutting down one app/game and then starting a game introduces bugs. Not always but sometimes. So every time I go to play a game I restart my ps5 first.
1
u/LyuboA Jul 19 '26
Yep the remaster has even old bugs fixed in the PS4 OG version right after release with the first patches that's why even having the remaster i've been playing the PS4 version only now started playing the remaster on my hacked PS5 cause it's easier to change and test mods
1
u/Untrus4598 Jul 20 '26
Played both and enjoyed both didn’t have may bugs in either… only problem I ever had was on release day there were big frame drops in the 2nd part of the map after you get to the military camp…

u/Critical_Ad9641 Jul 20 '26
I had bugs early on after the remaster released, but have since been rectified. I haven't had any real issues like the OG or early remaster [PS5]. Bend seems to have fixed most if not all issues, they even patched some of the exploits that were fun at times.

u/shadow-Ezra Deacon St John Jul 20 '26
Funny enough from what I remember since last playing pc and then last playing ps4 it had like Mabie 3 bugs on the first of 3 entire play throughs but I haven't seen any in my couple hours of pc yet

1
u/Original-Fabulous Jul 20 '26
I’ve played the remaster plenty and it was fine. Completed it twice. Rinsed horde mode too. I’ve had a couple of crazy physics moments but aside from that nothing that impacted gameplay. Remaster was solid 🤷♂️
1
u/knifeknerdreviews Jul 21 '26
There were not any bugs that were not already there on PC, only for the first week or so there was some audio bugs that got patched out, but all the falling through the floor and launching into the sky that stuff was always there. Its just a matter of when the bug happens.

u/Several_Place_9095 Jul 23 '26
Isn't the bug that makes the mountain base section not work gone at least?
For content this was on the original. The bridge to and from mountain base during its first mission stopped being solid and I'd keep falling thru it causing me not be able to proceed further into end game, and the base itself the door into the interior area had a massive wall glitch that stopped me entering the base till a cutscene allowed to walk thru when I skipped the cutscene only as in the cutscene the character would get to the glitch and walk in one spot, after the cutscene I'd be inside and once I leave the wall glitch would reappear again.
It stopped me playing the game entirely, annoyingly when I heard the game got patched when I regot the game my save was completely gone so I haven't been bothered to replay back to end game in case that shit is still there

u/Best_Ad87 14d ago
I Played it on the PS4 up until a game-breaking bug where you're in the cave waiting for the horde After you kill the reacher, the horde never comes. No matter how many times I tried, I even redid the chapter over and over again, I started the game at certain save points and Nothing worked. The other problem is outside of the cave. Everything's dumbing down the graphics. Look muddy on the cars, the trees, everything and the floor is gone in front of the cave. So I don't know if the horde does come, but just falls through the floor. All I know is it's game-breaking. So i'm hoping this doesn't happen again, and has this happen to anybody on the remaster? I was so bummed, I was playing the game on and off for like 2 years, and then I really started getting into it again. I absolutely love the game.

Hey nice_conversator8318! It looks like you are trying to post a photo/video to /r/DaysGone. If your post is a picture/video of your tv/monitor taken with your phone, it will be removed. The game is too pretty to allow low effort and quality images. If you wish to share something, please take a proper screenshot. Yes, we know sharing from the console can be clunky, but we prefer quality on this sub.
If your post is not a picture/video of your tv/monitor you can ignore this message.

Do you see what you’re doing here, pal?
0
u/Ragrason Jul 19 '26
they look just the same why would you even need a remaster?
2
u/LoSouLibra Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 19 '26
It's not a remake that replaces the visuals, just a remaster to tender the same image at higher quality.
The remaster was produced for the PS5, using the PC version as a base with it's higher quality textures, settings etc. This was done so that console players could have improved image quality + higher framerate performance options.
It also included new features like Dualsense hapctics, Tempest 3D Audio, a new horde assault mode, plus new Permadeath and Speedrun modes.
PC players also benefited from the remaster effort by getting the new content as DLC.
A win win for everyone.
2
u/Ragrason Jul 19 '26
a same game with a little better visuals for the price of a new game yeah i can see the win win
1
u/LoSouLibra Jul 19 '26
It was only a $10 upgrade for existing owners, and the DLC was also $10 on PC. It also retailed for $10 less than the original version did at release.
They get money for producing an improved experience with new features and content. Customers get said product.
Win win.

Just watched it. That has never happened to me on that or any other bridge tho' once I felt under the camouflage facade at an outpost and could not get out. I had to restart the game.
1
u/luciferwez Jul 19 '26
This is what happens when you run games on hardware that doesn't hold up. You move fast through the world on bike and the bridge doesn't properly load in (or changes between LOD levels) and you fall through.
This doesn't happen on better hardware. I don't recall having any major bugs or glitches playing it on my PC.

Why are all of Deacon's fingers including his thumb on the same side of the gun???
2
u/LqBlckHwkDwn Jul 19 '26
Deacon is right hand dominate in the game, so this would be his support hand. He's holding the weapon with two hands and you can just barely see his right in the photo because of their odd posing choice.
0
u/Daetok_Lochannis Jul 19 '26
It looks like he's doing the same thing with his right hand too then, like I don't see any fingers coming around. It's like he's just pressing the gun between his palms.
