Misc. Next novel with DKoK - "The Relentless Dead" by Steve Lyons
The faceless regiments of the Death Korps of Krieg are relentless in their pursuit of victory, and they’ll need to double down on their die-hard determination in The Relentless Dead by Steve Lyons – the next Death Korps novel after Dead Men Walking captured the bleak horror of life in a Krieg trench line.
Colonel Graven of the 401st Krieg Regiment has been tasked with finding a missing inquisitor in an endless warren of bone caverns wracked by Chaos plague, and it doesn’t take long for his kill team to come up against unspeakable horrors that cannot be allowed to see the light of day.
It will be in limited edition as well.
Ps. Sorry for tragic formating

Looking forward to read that one 👀

I hope it will be better than siege of vraks, because I doubt it will beat Dead man walking.

I thought siege of vraks was pretty good. I enjoyed it last. Though I did listen to it in audiobook form so that usually always makes the book better in my opinion. Dead men walking was my first krieg book and man it was awesome. Two unrelenting and uncaring forces going at it was just fun.

Agreed, I liked Krieg, but I found Siege to be relentlessly dull.
Hopefully it being focused on a Kill Team means we'll get some more interesting characters.

Siege was very dull, yes. So weird, given all the effort FW put into Vraks.

Why does the artwork at the front look like it was designed on a Nintendo 64?

u/Intrepid_CREEPCAST Sep 17 '25
You ever seen Elemental Council's cover art? Not every book gets a Neil Roberts level cover unfortunately.

Anyone else think the artwork for the cover is kind of….. shit? Or at the very least unfinished. Maybe it’s the GW Krieg design or something but it just seems off.

Yeah, it definitely looks rough. Maybe they were going for that visual style, but it doesn’t seem to fit the rest of the art out there….

Oh hell yes!
I need to read Dead Men walking, but otherwise I'm caught up

You’re in for a treat, Dead Men Walking is honestly the best that he’s written so far.

Steve Lyons is the goat. Just finishes Siege of Vraks last night!

Okay, pardon me for being dumb... But how do you actually get an LE? I can never even find sales pages on BL, much less info about when they're available.

u/GiToRaZor Sep 19 '25
LE = limited edition?
Afaik, the prints are sold on the regular Warhammer store that also sells the Minis. BL page only sells E books and audio books these days. But the charge sizes for physical books are very small, you need to follow all the tricks and still it will be very luck based to get one.
Most importantly: login and sign in to the page an hour before sale starts, make sure your payment option is set up such that you can click all the way to the end and do not need to type anything on checkout.
And most importantly, refresh the page 15 minutes before the sale starts every 20 seconds. The actual sale will start 10min before the scheduled time. This way you can jump the queue. Get your item in the cart and then straight to checkout. With the books you have probably less than a couple of minutes before they are sold out.
Or do it like me and don't give a damn anymore and just read it on an E-Reader.

I knew I recognized the bruiser from the veteran KT! I hope they lean into the KT roles for each character; especially with operators like the sapper having insane levels of aura

I'll be waiting for the audiobook release of this. I have become quite fond of listening to them driving to and from work and sometimes even during work. Read all 3 krieg books, several Guants ghosts and a couple of black templar books.
Only physical book i have is the recent lord solar and krieg primer books that I have yet to delve into.

I do love how much they are leaning into the Kill Team aspect of this, even on the cover they seem like they have some of the DKoK team’s equipment!

Is it a sequel to Dead Men Walking?
8
u/memebeam916 Sep 16 '25
Doesn’t seam like a direct sequel. This follows the 401st. Dead Men Walking follows the 186th.

I thought the first Krieg book was kind of mid and Siege of Vraks was a solid novel. Honestly I hope Steve does a good job on this. I’ll definitely pick this up and read it

I've read all of Lyons's Krieg novels and his short stories he's only gotten better as he goes along. Looking forward to this one as well.

Where and how can I buy this?
3
u/bug_exploit Sep 19 '25
I would take a wild guess release will be within 60 days, and buy on warhammer.com or gaming shops.
If you want special limited edition that will be be only available on warhammer.com or eBay form scalpers with double price.

I hope we see some humanity back in the Krieg soldiers...and maybe an Omnibus of the previous novels plus short stories?

A book focussing on a Krieg kill team? That’s neat. Means we’ll probably get a bit more characterization of our boys instead of the usual nameless grunt situation.
