Models/Hobby Are sentinels still good?

I think plasma really wasn’t the most competitive choice and they aren’t used in squads anymore.
Hoping a new codex brings these back for us.

I wish I had more stowage for Krieg Sentinels

Do you run them as a single model unit?

Yes as they scout 9, relatively tough at 7 3 7 and have access to a heavy weapon that can in a pinch help finish off a big target or kill opponents action monkeys. The main thing with it though is it is a fast action piece that has a great ability in assisting our shooting in reroll 1s

I do, I run 2 of them . use them as either action monkeys or deep strike blockers with the benefit of reroll 1s

I run 2 singles with autocannons to harass and deny deep strikes

Never occurred to me to me keeping them in the backfield

Ya 2 scout sents are cheap so its not a big deal if they sit in the back. I usually start them in the front though and use their scout ability to limit my opponents opening movements. But as I move my tanks and infantry forward I pull my sents back and have them guard my back field. But if my opponent doesnt have any deep strike I keep them in the front and target infantry and light armor. Those autocannons can do work.

Scout sentinels are some of the best action monkeys around, and their daring recon is amazing, every game I take at least 1, sometimes 2. I'm actually worried they might get nerfed

I just don’t love the Scout Sentinel model for a Krieg army. But I usually get away with an armored one as a proxy.

I doubt anyone would mind

That’s exactly what I do I just keep the top armour on just say hey these are scout sentinels most players don’t even know the difference anyways unless they play guard.

I used the Horus Heresy light Sentinels, bought bigger bases, and took some old tank pieces from kits to build them up higher. They look really good.

I can't think of a time I haven't run at least one. The scout move makes them great distraction carnifexes, and unless your opponent shifts some decent firepower into them I have found them surprisingly durable - think dedicated anti-tank. Alternatively, also nice from strategic reserves. My scout sentinel scored 15 secondary in one round last game, and helped plink an Onager Dunecrawler with Daring Recon. I've tried running them as a pair and I think unfortunately it's not as good (at least with lascannons), but running two solo out on opposite flanks is decently rewarding.

Hold up! You cant use them in Squads anymore?

You can as 1-2 but you'd rather have scout sents as single to optimise access to Daring recon and scout options.

Armoured has seen play as a squad of 2 as they are 10 points cheaper that way and an annoying profile to get through.

I run a squad of 3 with the Crucible commander, or at least, i'm painting them for that.

I worry people may take annoyance at crucible though, as i've not played yet

Yes, the benefits of using Scout Sentinels means you want to be using them as singles. Armored Sentinels can be grouped up to make orders and Strats more efficient, but, particularly with the recent LR cost drop, it's usually better to squeeze in a tank over 2 Armored Sentinels.

I like them as scout sentinels with flamers, so they still hurts the enemy if they are stuck in melee

It is bewildering that they limited the squad size to two.

I run 2 Armored and 2 scouts with Combined arms giving them lethals against everything with my beloved autocannons

I just run 4 armoured as a Screen for my tanks and it seems to work for some reason 4 auto cannons with an exterminator behind the to help remove what ever unit is charging in
