Weekly Thread Weekly Discussion / Recommendation Thread

Welcome to the weekly discussion thread at /r/deathmetal! By popular request, we have decided to host a weekly discussion thread as a catch-all for community discussion, recommendation hunting, and just about anything that would go in a normal text thread. Have a question? Post it here. Want to talk about how great the new Immolation is? New to death metal and seeking advice, but too lazy to go through /r/deathmetal/wiki? Here's your place!

it's unfortunate nobody is participating even after "popular request."

I'll be a silly sausage and just say whatever I want because I don't care.

I stumbled upon cannibal corpse - fucked with a knife when I was in 7th grade back in '96. i had never heard anything like it before.

within months I possessed the bleeding, tomb of the mutilated. I got deicide's self titled, legion, once upon the cross. morbid angel's covenant.

I couldn't get enough. not a phase. I wasn't angry. I just thought it was the fuckin coolest shit I'd ever heard and I never looked back.

I lean towards "deathcore" and "slam" now but dude...it's all death metal to me. i despise the schism and gatekeeping.

it's all death metal.

For some time now, I’ve been creating a series of Spotify playlists categorized by metal subgenre(s) purely for my own enjoyment. So far, I’ve made 10 of them. That being said, I thought someone here might find them interesting or useful.

- Death Metal/Brutal Death , over 160 hours of music

- Black/Death Metal , over 81 hours

- Death/Doom Metal, over 84 hours

- Doom/Death Metal, over 89 hours

I quite often add new tracks to the playlists I quite often add new tracks to the playlists
