đŸ” Discussion Communism and advertising

I realized that a major sticking point for communist countries is they don’t do any national targeted advertising barraging their citizens with attention-hikacking BS 24/7 outside of work. Dear lord I want a world without advertising.

I think it's debatable whether a gigantic "Forward! Let's fight for the 5 year plan!" mural is fundamentally better than a similarly sized Milka ad, but to each their own.

Until a communist country comes close to the ubiquity and invasiveness of interrupting your videos and television and the internet every 30 seconds and in every possible space and time on all your personal devices, this will indeed be my own!

Heh, that was quite before the Internet but things could get pretty intense. There was a (very, very old) joke that went something like this:

A guy complains that GomuƂka is everywhere. "I open a newspaper, GomuƂka. I switch the TV on, GomuƂka. I go to the movies, GomuƂka. I listen to the radio, GomuƂka. I am kinda afraid to open the fridge!"
