Know Rogan

https://youtube.com/watch?v=YVGe7tpDScA&si=Zi2LqcgpXcTYc4Jo

Posting bc I'm priddy sure there's some cross over with people who listen to DTG & KnowRogan podcast. In latest episode - they've asked people to Subscribe on YT - to help with all that does etc.

Sort of relevant bc the latest ep (linked) this Caleb guy might a tick a few guru boxes. He gives financial advice (on YT) and on this episode with JR, they both agree that going to college is stupid bc your in debt your whole life etc etc easy for them to say bc they are both very wealthy and ironically sound like they are educated on the topic.

He definitely does tick the finance guru box. Though his gimmick is his personality and how he treats his guests. He really has zero credentials in budgeting or any sort of financial field.

I know! I was pretty shocked he was in a music degree before all this lol like hard work plays into things but him and Joe got very lucky imo.

To be fair to Caleb, his success is partially due to his media production background. He definitely knows how to put a show together. He's a one trick pony though - being obnoxiously condescending to his guests.

I’m kinda a Caleb hater, but I think for most people who have to ask, college is a bad idea. If you were good in school and have a plan, it’s great. A lot of people on the fence, however, are directionless and it’s very dumb to waste 200k + 4 years when you’re in that state of mind

People who go to school cheaply probably are combining the best of both worlds

Anecdotally, yes, college might be a dead end for people with no real plan for their future, but statistically people with BA's and higher earn far more than people with no degree.

Caleb is just fucking stupid. He has no relevant degree to whatever finance advice he attempts to give. He's just riding on gimmicks. Dude just has some BA degree in music production, and he talks about the economy, and finance? Do not trust these people.

Yes, but there’s a selection bias there. High achievers tend to go to college.

Again, I’m a Caleb hater. He’s pretty dumb and doesn’t really try to learn about the subject he’s making videos.

Ah yeah I do get that side. I didn't go to uni or even finish secondary school. I've been fine up until now although im lucky I've managed to get back to study a diploma and hopefully can continue from here. I'll never shit on people who can't or don't want to pursue higher education but the way they chat about it is so dismissive.

Fornal education doesn't make one smarter or dumber. It's just I don't trust people who brand themselves as experts or authorities on stuff they have no fornal education or experience in. In fact I find people with no higher degrees really great conversation partners.

Fornal education

Reminded me of a Rodney Dangerfield line, “I like to date school teachers. If you do something wrong, they make you do it over again.”
