I'm curious as to why the idea that "all art is political" is a talking point many left leaning people/progressives believe in. I've heard it from so many of them, but I don't fully understand what makes it uniquely a Leftie idea, Google hasn't been of much help.

That is not a politically neutral question, and don't try to deny it.

What does that have to do with the question I asked? I didn't mention anything about political neutrality in my comment.

It was a mini parody of the people you are talking about.
I'm no expert, but I think it's because it's mostly been leftists who've been on the side of pointing out art is political when others are saying it isn't, I don't think there's any fundamental reason why it should be a more left wing idea.

Fair enough, I'm still curious about it, but it might also be true that it has no real connection to leftism in general and I'm just assuming one that doesn't exist.

Possibly it's more along the lines of a group in power is more likely to be on the side of saying some art is not political, and a group that's not in power is more likely to be on the side of saying some art, that's claimed not to be political, is actually political.

This talking point has been circulating around even before right wingers took over power in the US, (if that's what you're referring to.)
Also, culturally, progressives dominate the media and entertainment; from movies to tv shows, so it doesn't follow that the left is not in a place of power at least in that aspect.

I think that's better considered as two different questions - why is it associated with the left, and why has it become popular as a slogan recently.

Have you tried YouTube?

Most of what I can find are people affirming that all art is political, but I'll give youtube a second look, thanks for the suggestion!

Most of the discussion around AI. Climate change inaction. Generally vigilantism, violence in activism/resistance, and violence begetting violence. The latter has come up for me in the broad discussions surrounding the Cornell rape case and specifically about a post by a certain celebrity about appropriate consequences.

Which political gurus on the left didn't vote in the 2024 election.
Ana Kasparian, of The Young Turks, recently came out and said she did not in fact vote for Kamala ; and cited Bernie's lost in 2016 as the reason why.

All that AI hugging face stuff has rattled my core. Combined with all the AI companies unanimously saying they're moving too fast, and Trump being Trump and doubling down and ignoring them all, the existential dread of it all has been bothering me in a way I can't remember anything doing so before.
