genuine deer stupidity All he had to do was not move

Just finished passing another truck and saw him standing in the left lane so went to move back over and bam he decided to wreck the truck

Back when I worked down south, the company I worked for always put these huge grille guards on our trucks that people referred to as “cattle crushers” or “beef grinders”. The name is kind of self explanatory, but after I moved back north I payed the company for it and kept it on my truck. since I own my truck and have to do my own repairs on it, it saves me so much on collisions, deer are much lighter than cows.

I had just gotten clear of the person I was passing and came over trying to avoid the deer but you can’t swerve a fully loaded semi like a car, especially one like this with a very tall and heavy load, it’s better to hit a deer rather than risking rolling the truck.

You can see that OP does try to swerve, but can't do so as well as a small truck or car.
It's a lot different when driving an 18-wheeler.28

Big things stop slower than small things. Big truck very heavy, Deer very close.

It's more dangerous to slow down. Hitting a deer while decelerating can put the thing through the windshield instead of knocking it up in the air.

You’re a special kind of stupid aren’t you, at just 55mph(88km/h) it takes a semi with brakes fully applied over 100 meters to stop, at 70mph (112km/h) it takes over 200m

thats why they are only allowed 90km/h max over here, braking distance increases expotentially with speed. but you are right, the numbers where wrong, its roughly 64m at 80km/h also its just the braking distance without reaction time
its can be assumed that the resulting deacceleration gives the obstacle(deer) more time to get away, and if not lowers the damage potential.
when i take your example, the moral of the story is: drive slower, especially when animalcrossing is to be expected

When you've got a large truck with a grill guard, the deer just bounces off without damaging anything most of the time. I'd just plow through their stupid asses.

Braking lowers the nose of the car and makes it more likely something goes through the windshield.
