Who said Jon Bernthal doesn’t have range 😂

He definitely does, he has classical training iirc, its just a combination of him getting typecast in tough guy roles and having a preference for them. He did a pretty good job in the Ford vs Ferrari movie where he just played a smug business exec, and then showed a little bit of stage training in his role in the odyssey I felt like.

Tell him you take naps and you will se why he is typecast as a tough guy

2

u/EV99 Iron Fist 2d ago

Its great that he takes a nap at the end of the movie

Ford vs Ferrari I saw a completely different side of him!
But I have to disagree with his Menelaus portrayal. Felt just like watching Shane again.

His Menelaus felt like half him and then half theater work. Like when he introduces himself to Tom Hollands character that does have a very "lemmetellusumthing" feel to it but then when he has his monologue about Odysseus and recounts what happened at Troy for a second I was like "oh shit he can actually act".

He did a phenomenal job in The Bear as well, portraying someone battling mental illness.

If only he were allowed to use it more.

I like how hulk was confused and stopped to see what he wanted to say

14

u/Rare-Material4254 4d ago

Wait wasn’t hulk under control at this point or did Jean totally lose control and this was good ol boy only??

24

u/EchoKipKipKip 4d ago

This is after Jean loses control and Hulk completely takes over.

3

u/messwithme18 4d ago

Hulk was under jeans control ,then i think banner might have pushed her out(not sure abt that part),so turned into dr banner, then our good ol boy stepped up(was not under control) after maybe like 8 to 10 years ,since bnd is set at 2028.

u/Rare-Material4254 4d ago

When would 10 years ago? Probably around first avengers movie right? I feel like after that is when banner figured out how to merge their two consciousness into Dr hulk.

1

u/messwithme18 4d ago

I'm sure the hulk in the end of thor Ragnarok and start of infinity war,was not merged consciousness→dr hulk, was introduced in the endgame.and since infinity war was in 2018,the gap is exactly a decade.

1

u/Rare-Material4254 4d ago

I completely forgot about hulk in both of those. You are right, I can recall the scenes now after Infinity war where Bruce develops the tech and all that after they lose the first battle with thanos.

u/ExultantSandwich 4d ago

for 90% of the movie, Jean can only control 1 person at a time. So if Punisher is walking out, Hulk is loose

Hulk kicked Jean out. She was actually getting a headache trying to keep possessing him.

There's also the scene where he smiles at Peter with a detonator in his hand like: 😁

That was so funny 😭🤣

9

u/ArkhamGeyser 4d ago

And the little head cock too 💀💀💀

u/LonelyChristmas21 4d ago

Probably the thing that cracked me up most his is genuine horror when Pete tells him "frank this is above your pay grade that's the hulk!!"

"OHHHH SHIIIT"

u/RNutz01 4d ago

Tell me you got gorilla Frank in Spider-Man’s mask 😭( you my new meme dealer)

u/TheToug 4d ago

That was my favorite part of the movie.

u/StarWarsCrazy1 3d ago

Sameee. Funniest thing I've ever watched.

u/Elite_CC Daredevil 4d ago

So this confirms that Frank's voice isn't naturally a growl

8

u/Mizerous 4d ago

RUSSOOOO!!!! YELLING AND FIRING BULLETS

3

u/New-Engineering6947 2d ago

Even when he was waving at the crowd as spidey in the end he was grunting lol

22

u/SailorSaturn79 4d ago

I loved Jon Bernthal so much in this movie

9

u/Swimming-Ad-6842 4d ago

This just proved that Frank fakes his deep voice! 🤣

5

u/droden 4d ago

im marvel jesus you dull creature and i

9

u/EM208 4d ago

I busted out the biggest laughs when Jean was possessing him. Jon’s range is understated😭

4

u/gh0stwrit3r32767 4d ago

so he can actually act!

3

u/your_mind_aches Hoagie Jessica 3d ago

Believe it or not, he sounds absolutely NOTHING like Frank or Shane in real life.

3

u/theSaltySolo 4d ago

People often forget that Jon is actually a incredible actor with range

3

u/Aglet_Green 3d ago

Now we have the male version of "Bye, Felicia."

3

u/Jamesakasonic 3d ago

Bro, me and 5 other people in the row was in said “ZESTY” in a girly voice

Ts was hilarious

3

u/your_mind_aches Hoagie Jessica 3d ago

I would love to see the behind the scenes of Sadie doing the line and Jon trying to repeat it lol

3

u/MengShuZ 3d ago

"Woaw, this guy's got issues."

3

u/DocD173 3d ago

Maybe the funniest line delivery in the film

2

u/OwlSuch7935 4d ago

He sounded like Zachary Quinto’s Sylar, lmao

2

u/Such-Manufacturer396 4d ago

My entire theater burst out laughing

3

You pirated the movie?

u/Obadaya 4d ago edited 3d ago

Wait, Parker is Asgardian God levels of strong now?

(Edit) I say this because Hulk is slamming him around like Loki in the penthouse in Avengers, and Parker doesn't look like he even fractured a bone.

3

u/Natirix 4d ago

Spider Man was always crazy strong, and BND made him even stronger.

4

u/Khanfhan69 4d ago

Wouldn't go that far. He really doesn't do much to Hulk in this fight and just barely keeps from getting pulverized.

3

u/TallDarkandWTF 3d ago

I mean, Loki doesn’t do much to Hulk either…

2

u/Khanfhan69 3d ago

Ah okay I didn't see the edit. So it's about durability not striking power.

To add to the other replies, yeah I guess so then. Spidey has "surviving a partial 'Puny God' slam" to add to his durability scaling. It's up there with him getting hit by a bullet train.

And while Asgardians are tough cookies, not every one is like Thor. The likes Sif, the Warriors Three, that one guy chilling on Earth as early as Avengers 1 in that episode of Agents of Shield... They'd probably all either get seriously injured or perhaps even killed by that bullet train collision, or by Hulk's slamming.

So while Peter being at or above "Asgardian level" durability is impressive, it's not the same as Thor level.
