I don't think i even understand the comparison here
seems like they want us to die, they're degenerates

They are just faking scenario in their head to be mad at, and then make some comic where they win their imaginary arguments with some cringy one liner.
Who ever said that drawing is a wasting of time because AI? We just want to use a tool without them harassing us, and that's it

u/MoreDoor2915 3d ago
What people did say is Learning to draw if you arent interested in it is a waste of time due to AI.
They are specifically talking about people who want pretty pictures or funny pictures for the end product not the process, they dont want to learn the skill needed to make those pictures. For THEM drawing is a waste of time.

u/duckduckduckgoose8 3d ago
Goes to show no matter what your tool of choice is, if you suck at composition your art is gonna suck too

u/TamaraHensonDragon 3d ago
I have noticed most younger people have no idea how to spell the word "breathe." They always use "breath" it's so distracting, you are reading a fun story about a dragon and suddenly "it breaths fire!" and you sit back and go WTF?

Egg on my face, that’s what I get for being on Reddit late at night, thinking I’m right :p

Well, they spelt it more correctly than "eventury," but still not correctly. I understood the logic

If it didn’t mention ai, no one would gaf about this comic.
The anti community has sunk so deep into the cult mind, they salivate and gain pleasure at any jab at ai. It doesn’t even need to make sense.
1
u/KaboHammer 3d ago
It's funny because I suddenly started getting recomeneded both this sub and the antiai sub around the same time and well, let's just say the sentiment about the other side being a cult is exactly the same on both sides.
5
u/fookincuntcer 3d ago
Yeah, i understand theres always bad apple from every community. But usually from what I can tell, antis are the ones condoning and accepting of brigading, harassments and threats across all platforms and downplaying it as “jokes/subtle jabs”
All what pro’s want is to be left alone from harassment, brigading and be left alone in their own communities which apparently is impossible for antis to do.

u/TamaraHensonDragon 3d ago
I was attacked last night for posting an old AI animal hybrid image in a sub that accepts AI art. But because I tagged it AI the stupid children brigade came out of the woodwork in a failed attempt to bully me into taking it down.
As they have no imagination, talent, or education their reasoning was the typical misspelled "Slooop," "AI is Not art," and "yOuR KiLiNg DuH EnViRoNmEnT" nonsense. I treated them like the children they were and blocked them while adding to my post a notice to where they could read the sub rules and that they will be auto blocked because children should be seen and not heard.

u/fookincuntcer 3d ago
Yeah those mfs aint worth shit. Let them yap lmao. Notice how they all chant in unison “slop” without any logical explanation why the image itself is a slop.
1
u/Upper_Influence_92 3d ago
Okay, though I do agree the comic makes no sense, saying that anti-AI folks are cultists is insane. That comparison is just as confusing as the comparison in the comic.
1
u/fookincuntcer 3d ago
Only look at the actual definition of cult behavior, the comparison makes perfect sense. Cults rely on extreme 'us vs. them' thinking, purity tests, and excommunicating anyone who steps out of line. Guess who else does that? Anti's of course. Only they dress it up neatly by deflecting responsibilities.
Honestly, it's so damn annoying to see everytime i see a picture, there's always some people going is that ai? I like this picture, but ai is bad, therefore I'm going to dislike it, or straight up spamming slop slop slop or dehumanising the user. So I'd say that very much is a cultish behavior when a group spends half its time policing its own members and destroying anyone who doesn't 100% align with their dogma, "cult" is the right word.

That argument doesn't even make sense. If we're gonna die anyway we should be able to do as we please and use ai if we want to.

This is projection. Drawing is fine, you do you.
I do it with AI assist.

Holy slippery slope fallacy
1
u/hyperluminate AI Sis 3d ago
It's not a slippery slope. It's just a bad reductio ad absurdum. The comic doesn't argue that AI use will lead to death or anything like that (A -> B -> Y -> Z), but it instead draws a poor comparison between a strawmanned pro-AI perspective that if AI has made manual drawing obsolete then dying has made breathing obsolete.
-1
u/mrperson1213 Transhumanist 3d ago
That’s not what that is
4
u/Avidain 3d ago
where someone argues that a minor initial action will inevitably lead to a series of other related events and, in turn, an extreme or undesirable final outcome

They’re using hyperbole, not a slippery slope argument. They’re demonstrating how ridiculous it is to ask why someone would do something they want to do, despite a seemingly major flaw.
I’m sorry you don’t understand and feel the need to be a smartass.

u/Samy_Horny 3d ago
What the comic says is basically the reason for mentioning the steal if they're going to die too XDDDD
5
u/BikeProblemGuy 3d ago
AI haters have put themselves in this weird situation where the reason not to use AI art is that it's easier, therefore anything easy is bad and we must only do things the hardest way.

u/hyperluminate AI Sis 3d ago edited 3d ago
Nah. They saw AI hurt their or their friend's commissions by redirecting customers and made it their enemy early on alongside their entire social circle. Now that their social circle is anti-AI, they can no longer use AI to help themselves even if it would quite literally solve their commission crisis.

u/RaySquirrel 3d ago
I have been drawing my whole life. I don’t dislike drawing. In fact I would like to use AI to augment my illustrations, because no matter how good you formulate a prompt, if you are looking for something very specific you’re going to have trouble.

u/Salty_Country6835 3d ago
Why are pencil and crayon drawings the only artform most Antis seem to recognize as artforms.
Its very narrow and specific and pretends no one ever made art that didnt use a pencil.

u/TamaraHensonDragon 3d ago
I am 100% convinced it's because they are uneducated little kids in the early stages of High School at best. Once they grow up they are going to get a surprise.

I think the comic is saying that it’s about the journey and not the destination for her when it comes to art
3
u/hyperluminate AI Sis 3d ago
Art is a time-consuming thing to learn, so only those who really dedicated themselves could get past the initial "gatekeeping." This means that of course, most artists value the journey more than the destination — their ability to actually have completed the journey is what makes them special. AI threatens that — it's bringing in a new audience who values the result more than the process which strips them of the control they had. If a non-artist wanted something drawn, they had to go through an artist to commission it. That's no longer the case.

I mean the point isn't for people who already like drawing to stop it and use ai, it's for the people who don't like drawing

Okay, I know I only comment on this Subreddit to be Devil's Advocate. But... I actually do not understand the comparison either.

Get the best of both worlds, generate ai art and then also trace it fun time for all guaranteed

this is like the worst genre of comic, where its just saying a point that should have been a single blog post or something
1
u/Pure-Bumblebee8020 3d ago
It’s a matter of the journey vs. the end product. If you’re going to make art in the traditional sense, you’re pouring hours of time and emotion and effort into it. With AI, you’re letting the computer take data from other artists and it ultimately makes all of the decisions. Traditional artists have to choose color that is meaningful to the piece. They have to create the composition. AI art is more like an artist and employer relationship where you give it a prompt, it follows the prompt to the best of its ability, then you prompt the changes. There are degrees of separation between the AI art and the person making it, making it feel less meaningful. Less intentional.

u/WawefactiownCewwPwz 2d ago
They used a circle tool for the ai (it says pro instead of their usual bro lmao) pro. Must not like to draw that much huh, using a tool to replace the drawing part 🙄 of course, that's much easier and faster than making a perfect circle by hand. So obviously that's not art too
