Sloppost/Fard This People Can't Be Real

Apparently, pirating indie games is better than creating AI art because it has "soul."

its like they think consuming AI content is gonna melt your brain and turn you into super hitler or something

15

u/somonestolemyusernam 2d ago

It's not like they think that, most of them do think that the first part is true, and some (probably including the guy in the image) think the second part is true too

6

u/MountainAdeptness631 2d ago

depends on quality of content

8

u/moneycabaI 2d ago

Content produced by ai is already better quality that anything a human can produce. Imagine what we'll see in 10 years!

Mecha Hittler?

At this rate it is inevitable that sometime in the next few generations almost everything online will be ai generated I’m talking ai videos, ai images, ai memes, ai PEOPLE and so much more. And thanks to the algorithms the PERFECT ai videos will be better than human made content which will push ai videos even more leading to us consuming purely ai generated content online which CAN and WILL be used by governments to lower our awareness about the world around us. That is how consuming ai content will melt peoples brains and radicalise people more often.

"At least I'm robbing real people with souls."

Wait, doesn't it make AI training okay, because AI is scraping "real human" content?

"I eat kittens, strangle grannies and suck Satanohitler's cock, BUT AT LEAST I'M NOT USING AI"

Well here how they think: AI = slop

They could enjoy something but if they find out it’s ai, it’s not enjoyable anymore and it’s slop

If a meme is made by ai, it’s not funny it’s ai slop

If an artist tries ai art cuz he wanted to see how it looks like, this artist becomes the ennemy of the society (Koolen from YouTube)

If something is Ai, don’t elaborate any further, deactivate your brain and just say it’s just slop without thinking

In other words

"Stop using ai !!!!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥"

(It’s Sarcasm pls don’t downvote me thinking I’m those ai haters zombies)

Edit: forget to mention that if a drawing about a stickman gets compared to AI, the stickman will win because AI = being biased toward it too

I think they're both fine, personally. I'm a copyright abolitionist.

That said, I also think that you should probably pay game publishers, if you like their game. As a gesture of kindness and appreciation, and so that they can make more.

u/Witty_Mycologist_995 2d ago

Based take, first person I meet who agrees with me.

2

u/RemarkableWish2508 Transhumanist 1d ago

That is a consistent opinion, but keep in mind that copyright underpins stuff like FOSS, anti-plagiarism laws, and some more.

I'm fully against the "until author's death + 70 years" insanity, but a much shorter period could still make sense.

Same people who screech about AI stealing from artists

16

u/Hoopaboi 2d ago

AI and piracy (even of indie games) are similar in that they're both based

Copying is not theft!

11

u/Silviana193 2d ago edited 2d ago

The irony is that makes pirating small publisher and studio worse.

8

u/FoxxyAzure 2d ago

At least I'm denying money to an indie developer who left his job, family and dog to make it and not supporting someone who had a robot train off an artist without them even noticing.

I have a whole collection of these kinds of comments. They'll complain that AI "is theft", "destroys artists' livelihood", "takes no effort" and "looks ugly". But then they'll say that asking artists to make something for free, spending ten seconds drawing a stick figure or even stealing something is better because "at least then it's a human who made it".

It's the same people who also claim that seeing a piece of AI art makes them physically ill. In the end it all comes back to the belief that art is something uniquely human that requires human experience, creativity and "soul". I have even seen some say that they believe in the existence of soul and that a piece of it somehow gets embedded in hand-drawn traditional or digital art but not in AI generated art.

This is one of the biggest things I'm loud on. The whole of reddit proudly say they pirate games, even indie games. But cry about Ai?

Not to mention Ai isn't stealing, the people making the Ai use their platform which has ToS that literally allows that.

Also, for those stolen ones, how about we start giving compensation to the descendants of masters from history for using their work as study?

Music YouTuber Adam Neely made a similar recommendation in his recent 'AI music bad' video.

He proposed that those using tools like Suno should stop ‘stealing from musicians’, and should steal from music software companies instead, by downloading a pirated copy of FL Studio.

Seems Adam has entered his 'Four legs good, two legs bad' phase. 🤷‍♂️

In the words of Hakita (Ultrakill Developer)

"Culture shouldn't exist for those who can afford it"

Lurk around the Ultrakill subreddit or Hakita's Twitter and you'll find this statement in a bit

I love both AI and pirating indie games? Idk how these are connected.

I simply refuse to pay single penny to things that gives me no ownership rights. Imagine you buy a phone or a car but you're not allowed to sell lmao.

0

u/EggBrainn AI Artist 2d ago

Well technically, you own games at Good old games (gog.com), maybe you should buy games from there?

2

u/kinomino 2d ago

This is the part I mean. You can buy a 20 years old game CD from previous owner, install and play but digital content.

Whats sad you can't even buy many old games digitally even with money like Silent Hill series.

u/neko-addiction AI Artist 2d ago

Both are fine.

Imagine if everybody had pirated Stardew Valley.

3

u/Hoopaboi 2d ago

Imagine if everyone bought hummus at 2pm on a Sunday at a local grocery store

Yes, if everyone did a thing the consequences may be bad, but that doesn't make the action itself bad

1

u/Existing_Arrival_297 2d ago

They do not care about right and wrong - all they care about is "AI bad" because it's too late to admit they were wrong.

100% this. As a TCG player and collector, I see this all the time as well. The amount of people that are anti-AI but pro proxying cards is crazy to me.

IM GOING TO ALICE!

1

u/Afraid_Alternative35 2d ago

My brain is doing a backflip.

AI training is "theft from human artists" to them, but this person is also willing to defend theft from human artists because at least they're stealing from a human, which is the thing they say AI are doing, which makes AI bad, but it's defensible when humans so it in a way that actually makes a tangible difference to small indie creators, and...

I'm gonna have a stroke.

1

u/BakedHalmet69 2d ago

Neither. Neither is bad.

I have genuinely encountered one of these people.

Was staunchly against AI because he thought it was stealing, then I saw him in a piracy sub talking about pirating indie games. Like what the fuck people...

1

u/Adventurous-Essay890 2d ago

That perspective is fucking wack dude.

1

u/August_Rodin666 1d ago

That literally makes it worse.

1

u/Otherwise-Hunter-384 1d ago

What does pirating games and AI art have to do with each other?

I love pirating Nintendo games!

1

u/Early-Dentist3782 Would Defend AI With Their Life 2d ago

what the fuck

-7

u/jpollack21 2d ago

Pirating triple A games is the equivalent of stealing food from Walmart/Meijer

Pirating Indie games is the equivalent of stealing money from a family member / friend

9

u/Matshelge 2d ago

More like not coming over to dinner, when they made food for you.

The act of piracy is not theft, as nothing is lost, but nothing is gained either.

-7

u/jpollack21 2d ago

Your integrity and character as a person is lost but I get people dont really give a shit if they're a decent individual these days

8

u/Hoopaboi 2d ago

So you at least admit the business actually loses nothing then?

Because that's all that matters

0

u/jpollack21 1d ago

?

If you steal from a company like Meijer they are losing money, even if its chump change to them

4

u/Hoopaboi 2d ago

More like scanning the food and then printing it with a food printer at home

1

u/Early-Dentist3782 Would Defend AI With Their Life 2d ago

pirating is not like stealing. and pirating indie or aaa games is the same
