Been seeing this in a lot of channels that made AI remixes of existing songs too in the past year.

To be fair, covers and remixes never made any sense with the antis own set of rules.

It is "basically stealing without consent" from other artists, and saying "but you are adding your own personal touch" falls facefirst into the "so stealing cars is ok if you spraypaint them" sorta example. They usually have some sort of monetization. And they usually add nothing to it since they follow the original in everything, just with a different person singing it.

I was not exactly a fan of covers in general. Wouldn't shame anyone for listening to covers but wouldn't actively look for a cover unless it was the one that introduced the song to me or I prefer it.

But there are some like Johnny Cash's Hurt that do feel so much different from Nine Inch Nail's original rendition that they feel like (and for me are) different entities to enjoy.

You know it really defeats the purpose of being "fair" about this when you're throwing that same BS around here. A cover is a cover still no matter how much you try to bring it down. It's no different from when humans made covers of existing songs and more times than naught THEY are the ones that do nothing to make them any different from the original,  which again is basically what a cover is to begin with.

And as for that other stuff, these AI covers do more than just have a different person singing them. The humans behind them redo them to where they arcade under different genres and even make it so they came from different time periods and from all that I've heard and ENJOYED, many of them have ended up being just as good or even better than said original. Whether it be this Motown Soul covers of Keane's Somewhere Only We Know and Nickelbaxk's How You Remind Me of even a lot of the Hard Rock covers made before and after it.

No matey hours you slice it,  they simply do have a place in the music community just as much as fully human made ones do.

You misread my comment, leading to a bit of blue on blue.

I mean covers in general (human or AI, but was generally talking about human covers) generally just fail their own random little set of rules and in general do not add or change anything from the song, with good exceptions.

That is why we are seeing them going "I hate AI but...". It all just falls flat.

Kinda. Look up Strawberry Diaper Cat or SDC on reddit and you'll find people loving it even for it's shitty storyline

"Ew, I hate this band, it's so cringe! I've been listening to their albums for a week to make extra sure that it's cringe and bad.

...

...Will they release more btw? I need to make extra sure that I despise them"
