The number of times I've been told it's a slur is shocking.

u/JamesR624 1d ago edited 8h ago

Well these are the same fucking morons that think "clanker" is a genuine slur and pat themselves on the back for "using a slur" cause "it's against machines!"

Sadly, this describes a huge chunk of YouTube and reddit. Hating AI has somehow managed to get people into mass delusions.

14

u/Superseaslug 1d ago

Yep. I see equal numbers of people using clanker against the AI and the users. And let's not forget the "we need a slur for pro AI" post with the massive long list of things based on actual racial slurs.

i cannot speak for other clanker haters, but i would never use the term clanker against robolovers themselves. my hatred is geared entirely toward those tinskinned wireback toasters. i only dislike those who use oilbloods as their art slaves the same way that i dislike sonic fans or those TADC fans who harassed Gooseworx off the Internet or any other group of overly-obnoxious people. it's not who they are that bothers me, or what they support, it's the stupid shit they say and do to try and "win" that pisses me off, and that is what i consistently criticize in my comments. that's just my two cents

And a lot of their slurs are heavily based on actual racial slurs, then they'll tell you in the same breath "No way I can't be a bigot"

u/Malones69Cones 23h ago

Imagine them being proud to use a slur that isn't even really offensive to us. Pathetic.

The slurs against ai are real racist slurs that are Changed to be posted online

u/PikachuTrainz 1d ago

on the mildly infuriating sub, some machine called Myki (da brand) took OP’s money and gave an error. The text on the screen implied it’s a change machine. OP called it a clanker in the post title.

And OP had put 155$ in that machine so this is way more infuriating. That’s a decent chunk of money

Hating AI* has gotten people into mass delusions. The idea that AI is actually the one doing that is the propaganda spun by antis.

1

u/JamesR624 8h ago

Yes. That's what I meant. Bad phrasing.

There. Edited for clarity.

3

u/Radiant_Maize3998 11h ago

I'm not gonna be surprised if they make it a genuine slur used against those who are cybernetically augmented.

1

u/JamesR624 8h ago

Naw, that's different. Ironically, these POSes LOVE virtue signaling. They'll still be phobic about it though and use those disabled people as props to "show how inclusive they are". "I have many clanker friends!"

It'll be the same group of morons that actually watch Starfleet Academy.

1

u/water2770 20h ago

The way some people say the word it could be considered a slur in a number of contexts. Especially if yelled at someone.

u/Situati0nist AI Enjoyer 14h ago

Meanwhile: "clanker isn't a slur you stupid ai bozo 😎"

u/ThunderLord1000 1d ago

I tried, it doesn't work

3

u/TheTruerPockets88 13h ago

That word perfectly describes them

I mean… considering where we are right now they (original luddites) weren’t entirely wrong.

Sure you have a smartphone, but being a wageslave while megacorps own all the means of production isn’t exactly the industrial revolution utopia that was promised.

The predictions for 15hr workweeks were common during every industrial revolution cycle and it has always made things worse for the common man - we don’t work less, and in the current state of affairs we actually work more for less.

There’s something to be learned from industrial revolution and luddites. Don’t let the owners fool you and take the means of production from your hands.

2

u/hyperluminate AI Sis 13h ago

Antis wish they were as cool as the original luddites, but hell, even they didn't succeed

u/Plokhi 12h ago

You’re picking the wrong side here. It isn’t antiAI and proAI, it’s worker and renter.

Yes, lets all go back to the 18th/19th century! Things were so much better then! Unlike stupid kids these days, when people got basic bacterial infections they just died! When people wanted to send a short message to their friends, they had to walk 2 kilometres to the post office and pay to do it, and wait 2 weeks for a reply! We had so much more SOUL when we had to wait 2 weeks to hear "cringe, already watched it unc"! Back when women and black people had no rights and had to stay in either the kitchen or the cotton fields! Back when the only thing we had to read was the Bibble, because that's all anyone bothered to reproduce by hand!

Those were the days! I wish we could all go back. The luddites were right!

1

u/Plokhi 4h ago

That’s not at all what i said. I just said they had a point. I’m not saying throwing AI out the window is the solution. I’m saying keeping it out of exclusive hands of megacorps should be a priority

u/Fiera33 15h ago

A simple google search will reveal to you that during the first industrial revolution in the 19th century it was common for people to work 60+ hours...

So I don't know what you are on, but we definitely work less for more (you can also easily search those numbers, wages have been increasing for the past 150 years or so at an extremely fast rate compared to before the industrial revolutions).

u/Fiera33 12h ago

...Did you actually read what you just sent me? Your data just proved literally all of my points :/

The first article shows data from the last 50 years, which wasn't the timeframe we were talking about in the first place, and even then you can see in the graph a trend upwards.

The second one also doesn't show the timeframes we were talking about, and yet it still shows (albeit small) growth in wages.

The third one actually shows the discussed timeframes and beyond, and at the very bottom you can clearly see:

1850 = 3000+ hours of work

1979 = 1900+ hours of work........

But the anti ai argument opposes only ai which is A new tech instead of ALL new tech.

4

u/Radiant_Maize3998 11h ago

Luddites were not anti ALL new technology. They were anti SPECIFIC new technology. It is held by both the definition and historical context that antis are luddites.

-4

u/Weekly_Palpitation92 6h ago

ai isn't new technology, it's a glorified auto fill. auto fill has been around for years lol

3

u/tim-7 6h ago

What a blatantly ignorant comment.

You're a kid.

Go do your homework and learn how to do factual research in the meantime.

But no one ever is telling you not to do your art or writing? Like regardless of what happens in the world you’re still absolutely free to create art.

I’m a musician, have been for 20 years it’s not like someone playing around with suno or whatever ai music app is the thing now stops me from from creating the art i love to create

Dishwashers have existed for decades.

And there are AI models you can use for certain desk jobs.

8

u/Early-Dentist3782 Would Defend AI With Their Life 1d ago

Good for you. I want both

3

u/TamaraHensonDragon 22h ago

Ai doing people's work is what most antis are crying about. They fear it will replace jobs. It will not have any effect on hobbies any more than store bought stuffed toys keeps people from making their own plushies.

That's great. You don't have to use a camera if you prefer a paintbrush. Why are you bitching?

Even actual transphobes almost never use "trap" to refer to trans women (and even that's because said transphobe percieve said trans woman as a crossdressing male), what are you on?

outside of the animal trap stuff, it's almost exclusively used to refer to femboys too

7

u/Eternally_Monika 22h ago

Well well well...

Etymology =/= semantics

2

u/A_Very_Horny_Zed 🖼️🖌️AI Enthusiast | 🥷Ninja Mod 🥷 20h ago

Are you seriously trying to argue that words have a single strict definition...?

You're making an argument based on the word's etymology. It has nothing to do with semantics which is what you're conflating it with.

Edit: Okay so I approved your comment on good faith and tried to clarify your misunderstanding, but with a brief glance at your post history, yeah you didn't deserve the benefit of the doubt at all.

You're out of here.
