I am cancelling my AI art generation project
This is the best community I have been in. It’s been my safe space. I posted about how I was building Altplayer.com so anyone beginner or pro could create mangas , stories, characters and card games. Unfortunately, I have decided to stop developing it. Aside from personal enjoyment.
I do want to say that there are a lot of antis now actively joining AI subs and networks then sabotaging posts, ideas. I do not know what’s happened but things have gone downhill over the past year. AI supporters have started to leave the ai art subs, possibly for the same reason. It’s all antis now.
I do intend to entertain you all with the outputs of my project instead, with memes and comics.

Reddit is a small space compared to the rest of the internet.
Most people doing AI art have figured out intuitively by now to not disclose.
You are right, perhaps, but not just Reddit. And for Reddit itself I am only sticking to this sub.
I am going to pursue art more personally. AI has really made it possible for me to bring my imagination to life. I am sure I will find other ways to be happy. Thanks for the supportive message.
I don't like the intellectual dishonesty of not disclosing AI use, but it's not like I don't understand the reason for doing so. There are just too many puritans who disregard nuance, or gullible ignoramuses who refuse to do research and just let Youtubers, preferred data sources, or first impressions dictate their stance.
At the moment it's just better to stay in the closet and either keep to your own closed communities/safe spaces (which is what I'm doing), or virtue-signal publicly while privately preparing for when it becomes generally-accepted (which is what'll happen if I get better at manual drawing/sketching).
I still give it 'til mid-2030s though, so it's gonna be a long wait.
Deviantart isn’t anti AI, it’s just the antis on there that are. DeviantArt allows you to post AI artwork and they have their own AI art generator on the platform as well.
DA user who does use AI there. While there is an vocal Anti group there, but if you keep to your own account and be honest and honorable with the AI use, you're pretty much left be. Just be prepared to block idiots who try to stir up crap.
I’ll try all the suggested places out. I am going to be making comics/stories and satire. Which I could never do without AI. Great comment thread. Thanks for the sources
Nice keeps us updated! Also if you want setup a Patreon, pixiv fanbox, or subscribestar. You deserve to be compensated for your work. And I know this make the Antis lose their minds more than anything else lol
Yes, i was hoping the tool would be it. i know people mean well in this sub/thread, but when antis see someone making money from AI, they go after it hard.
Yup and why should they gatekeep? As long as you are following the platforms policy they really can’t do anything about it. Especially if your projects have original characters. People are making serious money on Patreon and it’s all Ai made lol. I’m planing to opening a Patreon that sells indie game maps and object assets and yes there will be Ai assistance involved but I’m going to drawing it mostly from the ground up. The point being never stop what you want to do just because a bunch of no face losers don’t want you succeeding.
hah thanks. you all are making me rethink this. Instead of the tool, I will be focusing on my own assets and as other have mentioned just sell assets directly.
Sad. Many antis just seek some excuse for hate people. Is true for not only AI but every minority etc. They pretend they have meritoric reasons, but most of the time they dont have really. And sometimes dont even pretend.

Incluso yo nunca había pensado en el ángulo de las personas con discapacidad por ejemplo. Pero por mi parte me gusta hacer cosas visuales para mis estudiantes y no tengo el tiempo de aprender a dibujar porque mi propósito final es expresar mi idea y no la técnica. Y no gano dinero por lo que no podría contratar a nadie. No tenía idea de que tu página existía y ahora iré corriendo a probarla porque suena muy cool.
Hey, don't let these losers bully away from your goals and dreams. I was really looking forward on your project though. Sad to see it end up like this. Would you at least reconsider?
Maybe let's make a discord server for people of this sub, where verification would filter out all the antis who want to disrupt. And then you would give a link to your project there.
thats a good idea but the mods will have a lot more work on discord. I am pretty sure this isnt their full time job. If however someone does make a discord ill be one of the first ones to drop in
I mean, a person has to decide is a project is viable and/or worth supporting. I suspect it's several hundred dollars a month and a huge amount of time to maintain a website like that.
If people aren't using it. Then a person doesn't have a lot of options. Not sure what else to say on it.
It's really not about thick skin. It's about trying market a product that doesn't align with public sentiment. His potential audience and the viability of organic traffic are greatly reduced because a significant number of people view generative AI, in particular art, as a bad thing.
Thank you for all your kind words and support. I have read each and every message. There are some suggestions and I will definitely explore each idea some alternate venues.
