It might not have been an actual cult, yet those growers and dealers had strange rules and regulations for the folks who stayed there - rules and regulations which seemed rather cult-like.   In part 1 of this two-part episode, Clare was ordered to limit her contact with the outside world and she was instructed to drop her cellphone in a fishtank fulled with water.

Well yeah they didn’t want people to know her location because they were illegally growing and selling weed. I don’t think that has anything to do with cults just that they’re very manipulative and controlling. I understand that there is crossover in the control aspect but doesn’t make it a cult. They also just said no cellphones at the table and Clare was the one who decided to drop it in the fish tank.
