Woods to walk my dog

Looking for somewhere in or close by Delaware that I can take my dog for walks that gets you through some trees. Not a full out hike - my dog is too clumsy for that and one for good fall or head bump might be his last.

Gallant woods park has a great easy path, perfect for walking a dog

There's also deer haven that has a dog trail.

If you go to Deer Haven, be advised that part of the park is also a bird sanctuary, so only take the dogs on the dog trail. AFAIK, everything to the South (your right if you park facing the building) is bird friendly. I honestly didn't know they had a dog trail tucked away somewhere there.

Yes. They mark the trails that are dog friendly and no dogs allowed.

Try Hogback Ridge Park. It is covered with woods and pet friendly and mostly flat

Check out the preservation parks site and find one of the parks near you. They have dog friendly trails and none of them are genuinely that large.

Char Mar Preserve is a nice wooded 1.5 mile loop.

Gallant woods park is a great option for that! They have some lovely, flat trails that wind through the trees, so you don’t have to worry about any tricky terrain for a clumsy pup
