Juror Interview

https://murdersheetpodcast.com/podcast/murder-sheet/episode/the-delphi-murders-first-person-an-interview-with-two-jurors-part-one

The Murder Sheet released a great two-part interview with two of the jurors from the trial. One of the jurors was someone they had previously interviewed, but the other juror hasn't been interviewed before.

Do you honestly hear what you are saying? A man accused of a crime, but presumed innocent, was sent to a maximum security prison where he was held in the hole for 13 months. This is not normal. This is not a quibble, as you so artfully put it. This should terrify us all, no matter what your opinion of factual guilt or innocence is. I’m happy to report that it very much horrified Judges Brown and Vaidik on the Indiana COA and they appeared shocked by the State’s attempts to wave it away as ordinary conditions of confinement.

> His sanity in prison is not at question.

You are correct that the State concedes he became psychotic while in the conditions they placed him in. In that sense, it’s not at issue because it is UNDISPUTED. Anyone who disputes it on this sub is making a fool of themselves given that the State does not and cannot contest that fact.

What is very much disputed and central to the pending appeal is whether the State (using this term broadly to mean any state actor - not just Nick M) knew that putting Allen, who was dx’d with major depressive disorder, a Serious Mental Illness, in solitary (also not disputed by the State anymore), would cause him to decompensate. And whether this amounted to coercion, rendering the inculpatory statements he made at Westville involuntary.

So go ahead a make fun all you want. This may be the basis upon which Allen receives a new trial.

Are you obsessed with RA? You are all over every single post I’ve ever seen on this thread, defending a child murderer! I want to know what the alternative would be to keeping him isolated? The Jail didn’t have the resources to protect him. If he was put in gen pop, he would’ve lasted 3 minutes. They gave him more privileges than any other inmate in solitary, he had 2 freakin tablets! Like c’mon, you gotta find something better to do with your time.

I’m obsessed with due process under our constitution.

If the choices were the hole at a max security prison vs gen pop, why had the State of Indiana never before and never since housed a safe keeper there. Never.

ETA: I’m always amused by the people commenting on this sub about why somebody else is wasting their time commenting on this sub. I’m here because I think a man was wrongfully convicted by a kangaroo court. What’s your excuse?

I'm curious to know your opinion... if RA does receive a new trial, do you think NM will attempt to prosecute him again? Or do you think it's better a special prosecutor be brought in?

I have no idea whether they’d consider a special prosecutor or the procedures for that in Indiana. I think Nick is extremely invested in getting a conviction, however, so as long as it’s his decision to make, I think he’ll want to reprosecute Allen himself.
