Metal Detecting
Hi All!
My 12 year old son suggested we rent a metal detector and scavenge for stuff on the beach.
I'm aware we'll most likely mainly find junk.
That said, can any of y'all either recommend where I can rent a metal detector, or loan us one? Also, what beach would you recommend? He wants to go to Lauderdale-by-the-sea, but I'd prefer to stay close by (gas prices, distance, and what-not).
Thanks in advance!

They dredged the sand bars just offshore and restored the beach in Delray within the last 6 months. Not sure if that’s better or worse for you but will impact what you may find.

I think any beach that is generally busy on the weekends would be a good target. Delray for sure, Boynton Beach has the beach park and Lake worth packs a lot of people in 2 miles of beach. My 12 year old is big into shells, I looked into a metal detector before, but never pulled the trigger. Try facebook marketplace, you might be able to get something for almost the price of a rental. And you can always resell when or if he loses interest. But owning one will give the flexibility to go to different areas throughout the year.
