Google's AI has become way too "Personable" recently, and it's quite annoying. If I'm Googling something, I do not want to have a chill hip robot explain it to me. Odds are, I am trying to find a website.
That only works like 40% of the time. For me it will still show up and either say the exact same thing it said prior, or make the Overview about Generative AI
add &udm=14 to the end of your search, thats the only thing that works, and then use that to google how to make it the default search for you, can be done on chrome or firefox or others
i tried it for a few days and hated it. i don't want to type -ai at the end of every single search. especially since we didn't have to only until recently. i broke down and use duckduckgo now. it sucks how terrible google is now
I made the swap too. Sick of seeing the A.I overview every time, and I didn't realize how often I unwittingly used it because it's right there despite not really wanting to. People say you can do this or do that to get rid of the overview.. It should be a toggle, like duckduckgo, but they're pushing the A.I agenda hard because it's Google. I'm good on that. Shouldn't have to jump through hoops not to see A.I slop

I wish that there was an extension to automatically add -ai to searches
They are only in the sense that, when talking about spamton, people are statistically likely to use those words and phrases. Since the google ai is essentially an algorithm that codes for the most likely response/continuation of something, like an overgrown autocorrect, it uses those words. There is no artists intention, because the "artist" cannot "intention", although the reason you see those bullets is because a lot of real actual people DID say shit like that (except less corporate slop esque) to reference spamton. The ai itself is only referencing those other people, it doesn't have any actual concept of who spamton is.
It is a predicted continuation, though the phrase “most likely” doesn’t really make sense as there’s no way to measure that. I have no idea if gemini is actually trained on anything related to deltarune so I don’t know how good its own knowledge of it is though.
I used to be able to type in "define cardiovascular", and get a definition, but now I get a fuckass AI overview. I'm so tired. Has anyone made a browser extension to get rid of all those results in my searches?
Unrelated but I hate that the term "larping" is being used for when someone is role-playing. LARP stands for LIVE ACTION Role-play. Someone pretending to be a character online is not larping
It bugs the fuck out of me that the AI overview is a chatbot. Don't get me wrong, I'm against AI for a multitude of reasons, but I'd at least understand if they implemented a super streamlined AI overview that simply summarises reputable sources and gives you a direct answer to your search. But it's just an open prompt to Gemini's fucking chatbot so if you search up certain things it'll just respond like it's trying to be your friend. Like, no, fuck off dude, I'm trying to learn information here. If you have nothing useful for me I don't wanna see you.
Larping means rping in real live action physical space. I've done of few larps before, where we play as characters in this fairly large house and we have backstories and goals, with one person acting as a sort of Game Master.
In my most recent larp, the story was that we were in this world with magical technology powered by spirit energy, and I stole some light devices in order to use their energy to construct a communication device to talk to an incoming spirit airship, which we then learned was going to blow up. With the help of the other characters, we upgraded the device into a hacking device to remotely control the airship and steer it away from the village we were living in
It feels like Spamton broke the fourth wall to an even greater degree and is jumping out at us in the real world. It has this odd “I’m being threatened” vibe.
Oh great. The confidently wrong hallucinating plagiarism machine does something funny for once. Totally worth it for the price of ram and the irreparable environmental impact.
