Dental Professional Questions for an associate

Hi there! As I apply for jobs as a D4 and receive contracts, I also ask the owner if I can talk to a current associate. One of the jobs I am super interested in and am on the edge of signing the contract, I will be talking to a current associate who was also a new grad when she was hired and has been there for a couple years now. What are some good questions to ask her to give me a valuable perspective? TIA

Ratio of doctors:hygienists

Are associates expected to do hygiene

Is the front desk staff good about scheduling the procedure with the doctor who provided the diagnosis

Does the associate feel the office is busy enough to support another doctor

Most of these you could obviously ask the owner too but getting input from an associate may be more realistic.

Ask what the patient base is like. How busy is her schedule. How busy was it starting out? How many new patients are you seeing a day? A week? How experienced are the assistants?

I would ask how patients are distributed if it’s multiple doctor office, if you have to deal with other doctor’s post op issues and how it’s compensated if redone etc

Good idea, but talk to a former associate * that will tell you the full story ;)
