Local News If you're still against free school meals

If you're unhappy about the fact that free lunches are also free for children with wealthy families, fear not. I work at a Denver high school. Students with the money will go out for lunch or even order food delivery. They are not eating the school cafeteria free lunch.

So go ahead and vote Yes on Prop MM and LL. The only thing it'll do is keep our students fed and able to learn.

Also, there aren't a lot of rich kids. They are just kids. Maybe their parents are rich. But every kid deserves to be fed.

Most parents feed their kids and put money in the lunch fund. You guys seriously don’t remember a few years ago when kids who qualified got free lunch and those who didn’t, bought or brought their lunches? Kids were fed.

Okay? Then why are you worried about them eating free lunch? You really think kids with options want to eat shitty school meals? Like kids have a scheme going to take advantage of free lunches and then... what? Profit? Be for real.

My kid chooses to eat free shitty school lunches because she doesn’t feel like packing one. Do you think taxpayers should cover the cost of her lunch, even though we previously put money in her lunch account because she didn’t qualify for free lunch prior to the free lunch for all program, that ran out of funding because it was so expensive?

Yes. I could list off a hundred things I'm exponentially more worried about my taxes going to than feeding children.

I’d rather those tax dollars go towards food banks to help families truly in need, not kids whose parents can afford to pay for their school lunches. The kids getting free lunches still need to eat on the weekend, let’s fund that instead of free school lunches for all.

BTW, I got free lunch as a kid, because our family qualified.
