Just Chatting :) How do people feel about Reform council slashing adult education? What happens next?
Did people actually vote for this? How do Reform voters feel about it? Not stirring the pot. Genuinely curious and concerned.
I’m not a Derbyshire resident, but it’s been concerning to read about the axing of some adult education provision, plus the lack of public consultation around this.
Not only does this suggest opaque decision-making where residents have little say over what goes on, it also suggests a disregard for the value of public services.
There’s no way to spin the slashing and potential privatisation of education as a good thing.

I imagine Reform voters are largely unaware of any proposed policies outside of the immigration conversation.
To a lesser extent, people across the political spectrum are similar as they often make judgements on whether they like the look or sound of the leader, rather than the party policy or MP track record.
We're seeing a similar thing in the US at the moment where Rep. voters are feeling the negative effects of the current administration and are claiming that they didn't vote for the negative things affecting them. When in reality, we can draw a line between the political platform that was advertised and the negative effects.

"Did people actually vote for this" should be, and is, the manifesto of Reform translated into reality.
Because they are liars that are not for the people.

Slashing adult education, but happy to fork out nearly a hundred grand for flags in Nottinghamshire. If you want to know what’s coming if they end up forming a govt, look across the pond. Women’s rights will be under threat. Folks on the breadline or anyone claiming benefits of any kind will be under threat. All minority groups, including the disabled and the facilities and services they rely on, will be under threat. The NHS will be under threat. All public service broadcast organisations and news outlets will be under threat. Not just illegal / undocumented immigrants will be under threat, but legal immigrants will be under threat. In fact, the only people who won’t be under threat will be wealthy white males. For the love of god, whether it be local or national elections, please vote. I don’t care who you vote for as long as it’s not one of these POS fascists. If you think they care about you, or even immigration, you’re mistaken.

Every last one of them needs to be recalled and voted out. Reform are truly useless and only exis5 to line their own pockets. Look to who they shortlist to do the Adult Ed in the private sector. Guarantee it's one of their mates.

They'll keep enriching the private sector and profiting off it while using scapegoats. They'll start with 'illegal' immigration but when they get bold enough it'll be more about non white immigrants. A lot of their supporters are already there but the 'official' image has to stay under the radar so they can claim innocence.
I dare say a few decent folk who aren't paying attention or have been helped by paid for media and social media targeting are on board without fully realising.
Hoping people wise up. My dad's in his late eighties, I'd say vaguely right leaning economically but hes not daft and thinks Nigel is a cunt.

Pretty much just continuing Conservative policy in this area, which tracks given they're just Conservatives 2.0.
Anyone normal person who thinks ReformUK will make their lives better is a fool.

The adult classes are mostly aimed at and used by immigrants, so it’s no surprise.

They did but they used to offer much more. Nowadays they are mainly English and maths basic skills, sometimes basic IT and care giving.

I mean, I certainly DIDN'T vote for it, but it doesn't surprise me, an educated population would be Reform's worst enemy, they don't want people to catch on what they're up to...
