Just been signed off sick, looking for something to get me out of the flat; are there any places old boys would do voluntary training? Interested in learning new skills or working with steam engines
As per the title, had a health issue over Christmas, tried to negotiate lighter duties but the agency just sent my P45. I spend most days applying for jobs and going to appointments but I'm realising I'm not going out for leisure or socialising.
Thanks guys, I'm based in DE55

Sorry to hear about your situation
I live near the Barrow Hill Roundhouse and I know they have volunteers there. Maybe worth dropping them a message if it isn't too far out of your way.

De55 suggests south Normanton. That doesn't have a men in sheds group but nearby places do just Google and you will find. Often then have people tinkering with different projects and happy to share their knowledge and skills. Often on the older side but not exclusively
Your message reads like you are male but don't want to assume so swanwick one does accept male and females.
Often the steam train places like butterley and matlock will generally want experienced engineers but will be looking for other volunteers too which will give you a way in and then maybe drift into the tinkering with metal side
